I shipped a 2017 Mercedes-Benz from Macon, Georgia to SoCal. The driver and dealer both signed the Bill of Lading noting no damage. When it arrived at my home it was filthy but no visible damage. I signed the Bill of Lading, but I didn't discover the scratches on the hood until I washed the car after the driver had already left. I contacted TES and after multiple runarounds, then dismissed my claim saying I signed the Bill of Lading.I filed a claim with their insurance carrier and they said they couldn't do anything because my claim was less than $1000 which is the deductible for TES. Yes, I can sue TES in Small Claims court and win a judgement, but even when I win the judgement, getting them to pay is unlikely without sending Guido to talk to them. I am sure this is exactly their modus operandi when dealing with claims.
So my advice to anyone needing a vehicle shipped is to contract directly with a reputable transportation service (obviously TES is not a reputable carrier). DO NOT USE A BROKER!Secondly, wash the vehicle and closely inspect it before signing anything. If the driver complains about waiting, tell him you need to be certain there is no damage and that you are taking the advice of someone who was burned by a transportation service in the past.
