So I used Safe-Direct Car Shipping to move my 6 month old Infiniti from Arizona to New Jersey. I had a tight window while I was back in Arizona on business to get the car picked up (a few days, and no lead time). Jennifer was very helpful in navigating options, getting me to a price, and executing quickly so that I could meet my window.

From there, these reviews get harder. Everything past that point basically related to the carrier and not the broker. Jennifer (and Safe-Direct's web site) are very up front about the fact that they broker the transfers and how common that is in the industry. The positive side is that my car got to me quickly, with no issue, and the driver was fantastic in terms of going above and beyond what he needed to do both on delivery and communication. I'm sure the broker would suggest that they are screening the carriers and the reason I had such a good experience with the carrier is that they navigated me to a quality company and I would basically agree.

In the end, my car got to me quickly over a long distance with very little lead time (1 day) with no issues and for that outcome alone I can at least generally recommend Safe-Direct. My only real issue is that in discussion I was given a total price (one I agreed to and was fair) but it wasn't really clear up front what part of that cost was the broker fee and what part of that went to the carrier. In my case, nearly a quarter of the total cost was the broker fee and that just feels like too much to me. The carrier did the bulk of the work and bore most of the cost it would seem. I recognize the value of the broker and do think it was worth paying for especially since I didn't know a carrier that I would trust (my prior experience with DAS put them on the "not trusted" list so I was stuck) but if I had this to do again in the future I'd probably check with the carrier that I just had a positive experience with first to see if they could do the job.

So if you don't have a carrier you can trust and want a broker to help you navigate the waters Jennifer is a good person to call. The outcome speaks for itself. Just go in knowing they are getting paid well for their expertise.
