Do not, under any cirucumstances give your credit card number to these guys for the drafting of a "contract". They will use your credit card to get the deposit no matter what your concerns are. When I called, I spoke with Mike Perez who took down all my info and told me he needed my credit card number which would be redacted to put on the contract he was going to email me and have me send back if I was going to use their services and if I had questions to call him back. All this was fine. When I read the contract however, I had issues with the fine print. It seemed Secure Auto Transport would not be responsible to damage done to your car in route because they were not responsible for negligence on the part of the carrier. As soon as I read this, I called him back and left a voicemail within 5 minutes of it arriving and saying that I had serious issues with the contract and could not move forward until I spoke with someone. A representative called me back and said that an insurance policy similar to one which all the drivers must have would be emailed in "five minutes". I waited for two days and nothing was ever sent. My credit card bill was also due at this time and lo' and behold, Secure Auto Transport had already charged me the deposit!
I called them back immediately and Miranda in customer service answered. I explained the situation to her and she transferred me to Mike Perez. He told me basically I was being unreasonable but he would let me look at the insurance papers. I told him then I had been charged without any authorization given and did not feel comfortable with those charges. He assured me that he would send the papers, that I could talk to a driver, and that if I wasn't satisfied, he would give me a "refund". Mind you, this wasn't doing me a favor as I never signed their contract in the first place. This was on a Friday. Again, I waited all weekend and no papers arrived.
On Monday morning, I called again and told Miranda I wanted my money back and that I was tired of waiting for these papers. She said she couldn't issue one and Mike wasn't in. She supposedly left him a message to call me back which on Today which is now Thursday he has yet to return. I was also informed that I couldn't speak to anyone in accounting who authorized the charges because "they only come in like once a week and don't have a direct line." Mind you, they managed to charge me within 2 days. Miranda also tried to suggest that maybe I didn't get the papers b/c my email address was wrong. Mind you, they sent an email to the very SAME emai addressl to deliver the contract! I was instructed to fax accounting and ask for my money back and I also emailed Mike Perez. Of course, no response. After this, the insurance papers finally arrived. I emailed Zach Edwards who sent them the papers back and told him how I had waited for the papers for days after being told I'd get them in "five minutes" and had decided I was not going to use their service at all after it taking all this to get the insurance papers and that I didn't feel comfortable using a company who would ignore me and charge me anyway.
On Thursday (today) I called back. I asked Miranda if there was any progress and she didn't know. I asked to speak to someone who did and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes. I hung up and called back. She magically was just about to answer my line when she says the call just disappeared. Mind you, she didn't offer a resolution or anyone for me to speak to at this point either so I'm pretty sure that was a lie. She told me I would get "something" in the mail within a week. She didn't say who I would be communicating with or anything and claimed she couldn't access the company information that would be necessary to see if my "refund" had been proccessed. She couldn't give me a reference number or anything.
These people are dishonest. They took my money knowing I didn't agree with their contract and didn't sign it. It says very clearly in the fineprint that the contract has no effect or force until signed. There is also a place where the cardholder is supposed to sign in order to authorize the charges. I did none of those things. Yet, they took my money anyway. They have been unresponsive and rude. I hope they know they have lost the business of someone who travels cross-country frequently. I work for a healthcare traveling agency where many of my co-workers frequently have their vehicles shipped. I am going to tell everyone I know what happened to me. At least I found out how sheisty they were early in the progress.
