We’ll never use J.J. Express again. They refuse to complete repair of damages during transport.
On February 17, 2011, my elderly parents ordered through All American Auto Transport(AAAT), a transport broker, shipment of their 1997 Cadillac Catera from Marco Island, Florida to the Chicago area. AAAT enlisted J.J.Transport. Nicholas, my 85 years old retired father, prepaid an extra $ 200.00 over the minimum $200.00 deposit,( leaving only a $150.00 balance payable in cash on delivery.) The car was available for pick up March 2nd and my parents left Florida March 4th.
Near the end of March, J.J.Express called and said that transport of the car would cost an additional $ 50.00, because the cost of gasoline had gone up. Nicholas agrees to pay this increase. J.J. Express’ transport driver, Wladyslaw, contacted Nicholas about picking up the Catera. Nicholas called Wladyslaw back at his cell number and informed him of the condo location and how to contact the condo management about the car.
Then on Friday evening April 1 ,2011, Wladyslaw picked up the Catera. Initially Wladyslaw told Nicholas the car would be delivered on April 4th or 5th. Then Derek, the J.J.Express dispatcher, said the car would be delayed till April 6th of 7th.
Darek finally delivered the car Thursday evening, April 7th. We saw on the front bumper that the 2 front upright bumper guards, the decorative Florida license and mounting plate were missing. Darek said that he was just the dispatcher , not the drive and knew nothing about the missing parts, any damage nor repair. So we withheld $100 of the $200 balance due, until J.J. Express replaced the missing parts. Trusting them was big mistake.
The next morning, in full daylight, we noticed the plastic trim under the right headlight was also missing. Upon further inspection we found the front bumper was extremely clean and free of scratches and that there was paint overspray around the bumper, indicating a recent paint job. Saturday morning Nicholas called the driver Wladyslaw. Wladyslaw admitted the Catera had gotten loose on the truck and that there was some front end damage, but figured that it had all been repaired.
Monday morning, April 11th, we called Derek and told him what Wladyslaw told us. Darek said he would check this out. When Nicholas called Wladyslaw later on Monday, Wladyslaw developed “amnesia “ and didn’t know anything about front end damage to our Catera. Then when we called Paul, the owner of J.J.Express. He said that - he didn’t know anything about damage to the Catera, the drivers are responsible for transported vehicles, they have insurance and Derek would handle this matter.
So J.J. Express refused to take any responsibility for missing Catera front end parts. We withheld just $100 from the final cash payment and we have a car in need of several hundreds of dollar of replacement parts. Every day we see our car and are reminded of this.
People, especially the elderly, should be extremely cautious with companies that transport automobiles. Avoid outfits like J.J. Express. They can cause you a lot of aggravation and cost you much more in the long run.
