Let me begin by saying I am 100% satisfied with the transport of my car from NY to CA. The transaction was well within the definition of positive and I'd use Door to Door again. What I've learned in the researching of this service is that satisfaction is largely dependent on the actual driver and his (her) truck. What I suspect is that Door to Door, by fairly pricing the job and being phone accessible and polite, deserves my praise. Drivers are free to accept opportunities posted by brokers. If they feel squeezed or if the broker is rude, drivers will either not take the job or might try to squeeze money somewhere else (the customer?) My driver was all business and he showed up at both ends of the deal as scheduled. My car was in exactly the same shape as I'd left it except for some bonus road bugs. (Be aware that these huge trucks are often unable to get exactly to your door. You may have to meet the truck at an empty parking lot or highway exit. My experience was almost door to door.)
Driver had two gripes at drop off: He thought I understood that it was to be cash in the envelope (I'd called Door to Door on this and was told bank check was ok,) and the driver was surprised/dismayed to see that I'd shipped three cartons in the car (again, I'd cleared that w Door to Door.) So, be aware that your broker may not be in total sync w your driver. With Door to Door I felt like I had someone to talk to should there be a glitch. There were no glitches.
