Stateway did have a comparable price to others, slightly lower.

We did not receive the notification that our car was being picked up until the actual driver called and said he was a couple of hours away (around dinnertime). Stateway was supposed to send us notification once a driver was assigned, but they didn't (until 2.5 months later, right before the survey was e-mailed to us). So, make sure your car is ready to go at a moment's notice.

We requested top rack transport, but when the driver arrived there wasn't room on the top rack. In fact, our car was placed beneath a car that had been wrecked and could not be moved (which made us worry about dripping fluids, parts, etc).

The transporter was very friendly, however, he was at our home for several hours and didn't leave until around midnight. This meant that his truck was loudly running in the neighborhood when neighbors were trying to sleep - very disruptive. We heard many complaints the next morning.

The transporter took forever to adjust the ramp to fit our car, measuring the car and the ramp over and over because he wasn't sure if it was going to have enough clearance. I don't understand this because he knew what kind of car we had and should have been able to get that information before committing to the pick up. He also disregarded our top rack request when he accepted the job. He loaded it onto the ramp with what seemed like 100's of slight adjustments, and it was pretty scary to watch. It didn't give us much confidence.

When he lowered the top rack he determined that the truck was too high to travel and that he'd have to back our car off and re-load it backwards. Keep in mind that it was pitch black outside, so again, we weren't too thrilled at this idea. My husband had to assist the driver both to unload the car as well as to reload it, IN REVERSE. The tires hung off the edges just inches from falling off as he pulled it onto the ramps. As he backed the car in the roof was extremely close to the upper ramp and it seemed like it was going to hit. The long process was very unsettling.

Lastly, the driver stated that he would only accept cash upon delivery of the vehicle. The contract stated that a cashier's check could have been used, however, he insisted on only using cash.

All in all, the car made it to Texas unharmed, but it cost us a lot of nerves and restless evenings wondering if it was going to arrive in one piece without damage from either falling off the ramp or from the wreck above it.

Pros: Pricing, the car made it in one piece, David at Stateway and the driver were both friendly, David was able to provide me with a copy of the receipt 2.5 months after the move

Cons: Stateway did not notify us when car was assigned to a drive, they took a while to respond to e-mails (although this month they have been quick to respond when we asked for a copy of the receipt), no one was available to answer the phone after regular business hours so when the driver called us and we wanted to verify that it was okay to send our car with him we had no one to contact for confirmation, the contract stated that the driver should be paid by cashier's check or cash but the driver ONLY accepted cash

Would we use them again? Maybe. If the price was right.

Oh, and if I gave them an "Excellent" rating, then their email states that we would get a discount on a future move, but it also stated that that's not technically "compensation" so I shouldn't mark the box. True, but still I see the discount as a reward for giving a good ranking, so I feel it should be mentioned.

This is an honest review.
