I hired this company to transport my classic car from maryland to las vegas and back. We agreed the money would be paid upon delivery of the vehicle to las vegas for the first leg of the trip. The quote was very high but I was assured by Fred that he only uses the best.....and that I was paying for quality.....the transporter then hired showed up days early and because I could not be in vegas when he was delivering it insisted that he be paid up front in cash, despite the fact that I was in an airport going oversees...I had to ask a friend to loan me the money which was very uncomfortable and uneccessary. The guy that came to pick up the car drove up in some half assed carrier with literally pieces of burlap covering the carrier. My friend who owns a bodyshop and agreed to give him the car in my absence said he really did not think what he was driving could even make it to nevada in light of the mechanical condition and appearance of the transport rig. The car was delivered two days before the agreed upon date in vegas and when I arrived and saw it, it looked like it had been through a mud/dirt storm and the antenna was broken off the car and thrown in the back seat. I had to hire a guy with a pressure washer to clean the car beause it was scheduled to be in a car show in las vegas that weekend and was in deplorable condition. There were also windshield chips that I know occurred during the transport however I could not prove it. On the way back, some guy called me three days before it was scheduled...per my contract to return.....and said he was there to pick up the car. I told him that was impossible because the car was literally in a show in las vegas. He then said ok and hung up....then I heard nothing from the transporter broker.....until I called them and they said they were looking for someone to pick it up...but could not find someone....despite the fact I signed a contract for pick up on a certain day. Finally last minute, the night I was supposed to fly back to maryland I received a call from a guy saying he would meet me with the transport truck somewhere off the strip because he could not drive the truck down the strip....we met at a local hotel off of the strip at 9pm. at night. When he arrived you could see the transport truck was in bad mechanical shape and every car on the transporter was literally junk. After moving all the cars and insisting my car be on the top of the carrier because otherwise it would get damaged, he then advised me I had to drive my car myself on top of the carrier because he would not be responsible for such a nice car if it got damaged. I cannot tell you how terrified I was driving this car up onto the top of a huge car carrier...my car which is a 1956 ford is very wide and one mistake and I would be upside down flipped over onto the ground. With my wife watching I then began trying to get the car up the carrier, but it bottomed out on one of the ramps and got stuck to the point where we had to wedge it off the ramp with wood and then place the wood under the tires and then I had to drive it up again balancing on wood planks until it cleared the ramp....worst experience in my life.... The car then showed up five days later at my friends shop in relatively good shape which is funny because the "COVERED CARRIER" destroyed my car and the open carrier looked like the closed carrier should have looked. So now the truck is in the parking lot of my friends shop when it starts leaking hydraulic fluid all over the place...literally puddles of this stuff everywhere due to the poor mechanical shape of the truck, and my friend the shop owner is screaming at the driver and truck owner on the phone that they have to pay for the clean up.....My claim for the broken antenna was sent to speed about a month ago and has yet to be paid, I have requested twice now that my claim be reimbursed.....I would never again use speedy for any transport needs because the businesses they subcontract to actually transport the cars could not be any worse.
