Challenging move with good service

I was moving from an out of the way spot in California to the Washington D.C area. Knowing that the pick-up location was somewhat remote and I was on a very tight schedule, I contacted SMS well in advance and tried to explain my situation to them very carefully to ensure that arrangements could be made for a door-to-door move that met my needs. The vehicle was not picked up within the originally scheduled pick-up window and I had to leave it behind with a friend who was gracious enough to help. This added some stress to an already stressful cross-country move.

That being said, I do want to say that the customer service at SMS was always excellent. Everyone I spoke with was plesant and as helpful as they could be. Even though the vehicle was picked up several days late, it was miraculously delivered on the earliest possible delivery date with no damage. I would recommend SMS based on their customer service alone. I think most of my problems resulted from not understanding the shipping business. If I had to do this again, I would opt for a cheaper terminal-to-terminal type move and get the vehicle to a better location myself to avoid some stress and the added expense.
