Overall, the company did a great job, the driver was great, and looked after the car well. Reassuringly, there were numerous BMW and Mercedes cars on board, which indicated that the driver was able to look after such vehicles well, and he did.
Sadly, and probably through no fault of the driver, our battery was run down, and if it wasn't for Mercedes coming out twice at random points during the trip, including outside our home, the job could have been a disaster for us and everyone else on board this truck. No one knows how and why the car was drained of power, but the transporter took care of the car and apologized in advance if it was something that he did. It probably wasn't and was probably our setting on lights (so be careful) and the driver's honesty was refreshing. He was a very good guy.
The driver refused to go by low trees when picking the car up and we reassured him there were none, which was also a good sign that he refused to endanger any other vehicles on board. Such minor signs are important. He also picked up the smallest scratch when looking over the car prior to pick up, so clearly, knowledge and careful assessment is no issue with the driver. Again, he was excellent.
Our only problem was with a lady who phoned up 2 days before the scheduled pick up asking to pick up the car that afternoon. It was not ready, we weren't either, and considering she was requesting a favor to move the order forward, her attitude sucked. She was wanting to put us out without a car for 2 days and almost certainly expected us to say "sure, go ahead". When we didn't, she got a little weird on the phone and we worried about our car then. However, Amy, our primary contact, apologized for that and was great, as she had been throughout. My advice is if you're not ready to give up your car early, don't, regardless of how rude or untactful an agent may be on the phone in a desperate need to move cars on. Unless, of course, they rent you a car. Otherwise, no problems.
It took 9 days which on a scale of 1 to 10, I think is worth 8. It's good, but that's it, good. It took me 4 days to drive it myself in our other car so that's all I have to base this statement on. Sorry if this sounds unrealistic. It may be that between breaks etc. and considering the distance, this is standard. Regardless, again, the driver was great.
It's safe, and reliable, and overall we were happy with a cherished Mercedes.
