First off, I am a car guy. I have shipped everything from inoperative mid-60's Mustangs to late model cars. I have tried many of the larger transport companies with little success. Most operate the same way. Lure you in with a low transport cost and watch the car not be picked up. Then the transport company will tell you to "add $100 to the price to get it picked up". When that doesn't work, it is $200, then $300. After I became frustrated dealing with the shippers, I tried the uship route. That was even more frustrating with poor service, no-shows and repeated missed pickup dates.

I got a great deal on a 2006 Nissan Armada on ebay. The only problem was that the car was in Arizona and I was in Cincinnati. I had it posted on uship and got little interest. I figured this was because this vehicle is large and very heavy. It came time to book with uship and I couldn't get either of the high bidders to respond to ANY of my questions. I had been down that road before and figured that if they won't answer my questions before the shipment, I wouldn't have much luck getting in touch with them after booking.

I decided to look at transportreviews.com and book more based on positive feedback rather than price. Also, being a skeptic, I did google transportreviews.com to see if these reviews were real. Given my negative experiences with transporters, I didn't want to get burned again. I narrowed it down to two companies that had very good reviews. I ended up selecting Specialty Mobile based on my discussions with Amy Matthews. I booked on Wednesday 2/8/10, and she told me that she would have it picked up within 1-5 days. I'm thinking, "yeah, right and I'll believe it when I see it". I didn't hear from them the day after booking, but the day after that (Friday 2/20/10), I got a note in the morning that it was scheduled to be picked up. It turns out that there was a little confusion on the date, so Amy started looking for a different carrier. I got a call at around 4 pm that day that the car would be picked up within 24 hours. We confirmed that it was OK with the seller, which it was. The car was picked up on Saturday 2/21/10, well within the time promised.

The driver that Specialty Mobile selected had great communication and called me the evening before delivery. He dropped the car off at 9 am on Thursday 2/25/10. Five days for 1900 miles from Arizona to Ohio? Who can ask for more than that? As expected with open transport, it was a little dirty, but there was no damage and I was more than pleased with the service that I received. I will tell anyone who will listen to call Amy first. She will take care of you.

Also, it is worth mentioning that my lowest uship quote was $968. I paid Specialty Mobile $1095 for exemplary service and had no issue paying the difference. Bottom line, the service was great and I got my car very quickly!
