South Beach - awful experience

I had an awful experience using South Beach Transports (SBT) services. Their representative repeatedly made material misrepresentations to me throughout our course of dealing. SBTs representative told me over the telephone when I reserved their services that they could (1) arrange a pick-up on a date certain, and (2) owned/controlled/operated their own 2-car enclosed trailer that would be used for the transport of my vehicle. The written invoice did not memorialize the date-certain pick-up, and when I questioned why not, the company told me “it is a generic form. The vehicle has been scheduled for pick up on 6/20.”

In fact, my car was not picked-up on 6/20. On the following day, SBTs representative called to tell me a shipper had been located and my vehicle could be picked-up if I agreed to an increased fee, which I agreed to but only because SBTs representative told me that my car would be loaded that day. In fact, the shipper could not load my vehicle until the following day. And when the shipper did pick-up my car the following day, it was not in a 2-car enclosed trailer as promised, but on 8-car trailer. [Plycon, the shipper, was very good]

SBTs representative was unapologetic throughout, asserting despite her many misrepresentations to me that I just didn’t understand the nature of the business etc etc. After protracted arguments, SBT finally agreed to shave $75 off of my final bill. Cold comfort.
