Showroom is a "broker" not a transport company. They put your "load" on the internet and look for shippers to agree to the move at a price that reflects whatever cut Showroom has taken for their sevices. Fine.

I was quoted by their "dispatcher" Victor $1675 to move my car (includes a $25 internet discount). This was not the cheapest and not the most expensive...but the best price from what I deemed (incorrectly) a trustworthy company. I said I would acccept that. I was called back the next day, because the "Boss" said that was not enough money. I was told they now wanted $2200 to move the car. I told them I had a quote from "Horseless Carriage" (I now know they do not use brokers but have their own in house), for $1850 and would go with them. Victor said to wait, he could move the car for the $1650 but I would have to wait for the weekend....he was sure it would move by then. I said fine, felling comfortable in the reviews I had read here and siince I had 2 weeks to move the car I was not worried. No problem, if I didn't mind waiting.

As the weekend came and went I had heard nothing. I called Monday afternoon and left a message to call me back. They did not call me but instead called the seller and told him they needed another $525 to pick up the car. I then recieved a call from a paniced seller. I called and finally got Victor late that evening. He now said they would not move the car unless I agreed to pay them $2200. I was too close to the move date and could not schedule Horseless Carriage in time. I had no choice but to use these guys. I felt like I had been raped. My advice would be first to use another company. If you use Showroom get it in writing, be wary of them stringing you along...especially if they know you have a deadline! Have a backup plan and use it, unless you enoy having money "extorted" out of you at the last minute. Good luck.
