Overview: Car was transported in a timely manner and shipacar held to their original price quote despite facing a higher final expense from the transport company. They were clear communicating up to the point of pick up and handoff to the transport company. The car arrived safe and sound. More detail: They were a good mix of automated/online and personal touch. Once you enter the order into their website they have some automated email follow-up to assure you that something is happening, then call to confirm the order, get details on your shipping needs, contact info, etc. While you're waiting for a match with the transport company that will actually move your car, they have additional automated emails to inform you of their damage claim process, etc and let you know that they're working on finding a match. They don't charge your credit card until they have found a shipper to move your car. When that occurs you receive an email with the transport company name, phone # and expected pickup and delivery dates. They let you know that the driver will likely contact you within a certain timeframe to arrange pickup. In my case there was a little miscommunication with pickup because the driver was slowed by mechanical problems, but Christina at shipacardirect was very responsive when I emailed her to get some clarity. She contacted the trucking company and got back to me quickly with updated information. As expected, pickup and dropoff were both done within a couple miles of the begin/end addresses as they were both in big cities with narrow streets that the truck couldn't navigate. The driver was not overly communicative, but good about coordinating when it had to be done. This was the first time that I've shipped a car, and I'm very pleased with the experience I had with shipacardirect. I think an important part is to understand beforehand that they're a broker and the process they'll use to move your car. I didn't know where my car was at every moment for the few days it took to get from Chicago to San Francisco, but I had the contact number for the trucking company dispatch and shipacar was always there to answer questions that arose.
