You do your research for a transport company and, if you do a deep dive, you narrow it down to 2 or 3 carriers. In the final analysis its all about trust in the broker, because your car is going to be touched by multiple hands by the time it makes the cross-country trek to the destination, exposed to the elements (if it's an an open trailer) and bound to a contract that essentially relieves the carrier from all but the most obvious forms of negligence (read it first if you can, but they are probably all the same). For me, the up-front promises and claims mean far less than the broker's reputation, which is paramount. The broker's diligence at cleaning their list of second rate carriers is going to ensure a future in this highly competitive industry. Of course the cost is a big factor but, in my opinion, is largely offset by not having to deal with a damage claim (with your deductible cost) and knowing for years that your prided ride has been damaged at a spot that becomes an eye magnet for you, even though invisible to all but the trained eye. Realize that your car might look like a show piece when it's loaded at the carrier's pickup point but when you see it at the destination it might be coated with a heavy film of road grime and spray, and you might not be able to see any new scratches or small dents, and the driver is likely to be anxious to just get your signature on the bill of lading and move on, essentially closing the door to any claim you might have against the carrier. That's the way the game is played, so be prepared. If you're going to use a phone app such as the one offered by Ship A Car Direct, become familiar with using it before the transport events occur; time is money for those drivers and the less you know the greater is their advantage. There's no going back to could'a, would'a should'a. Wouldn't it be nice if you had absolute certainty that your car's condition at the destination would be exactly as it was when loaded at the origin, all for a price that was rock bottom amongst the bidders? It ain't gonna happen. So, it comes back to who are you going to trust? I trusted Ship A Car Direct, and it paid off. On time and no damage.
