1st time shipping a car, I was nervous...for no reason.

I was shipping a car across the country and had never done this before. I asked all of my friends and a lot of co-workers, all had never done it either. I would be going in blind, per se, as shipping a car was a totally new experience for me. I did a lot of research on how the process worked, the differences between open/closed carriers, insurance (it's good to double check if you're covered or not BEFORE you ship) as well as calling different companies to just get a feel for which one was "right."

I then came across Safe Direct Car Shipping; I spoke with Jason. He was very friendly, professional and I felt comfortable with the process as he explained it very thoroughly. He e-mailed me the information about what we had discussed on the phone (estimate, car info, etc) as well as a link to videos that had answers to about every question I could have had; yes I watched them all. I decided to go for it and send the first portion of the fee in. It seems that there is a two step process: 1) pay the broker fee - they find the shipper who will move the car for you, and 2) pay the person who drove your car across the country the balance, it's their fee. It's a COD type system.

The amount of communication that I recevied from Jason before, during and general follow-up after delivery was much more than I expected. I even called him a couple of times before pick up with questions that I needed clarification on. He never made me feel like I was burdening him, actaully, I don't think my calls ever went to his voicemail either.

My scheduled pick-up date was on a Sunday morning at 8am, the driver was a few minutes early. He was very professional, clean cut and answered my questions also. As a side note, the truck itself was in average condition as I would have expected. I felt confident as my used Ford was being put on next to the brand new full size Lexus. The driver inspected the vehicle VERY thoroughly (to protect himself from any allegations later). The whole process of handing my keys over, to signing papers and inspection, to loading took approx 30minutes - pretty fast in my opinion. The car was given an estimated 7-10days for delivery. I was rather shocked when I found out it was delivered on day 6 in the evening. The family member who received my car said that there were no issues with the car (no damage) and the driver was professional upon delivery.

All in all this was a very pleasant experience. I am still amazed at how easy it was as well as how clear the communication was at all times. I don't know that i'll ever need to ship another car in the near future, but I know i'd go back to Safe Direct Car Shipping purely for the comfort and ease of the whole transaction.
