I have only used a car shipping company before and am convinced I was scammed at some point during the process. Right off the bat, they asked for almost 300$ for a deposit that could only be refunded ten business days after the pick up date..that's basically two weeks! I was livid, calling everyday for an update, and you could tell they were sick of me. It wasnt my fault that theyhad an unhappy customer and they had the audacity to be rude to me. Anyways it wasn't until five days later that my car was finally picked up, and I had to throw in another 75$ to assure the carrier would pick up my car. My car was filthy, but did come in the 7 days was promised.
From then on, I did more research and called Safe Direct. Make sure to talk to a broker, first person I got on the phone was slightly unfriendly, and I'm convinced he got sick of me asking questions and left me on hold in hopes I would hang up. Anyways their websites/reviews looked legitamite and finally David, my broker finally contacted me after I requested a quote, he gave me the no frills break down of how the business worked, and that the car is put up for pick up and if the price is right, carriers will agree to transport your car if they're going in the desired route. If a couple days had passed and your car isn't picked up, then you basically you toss up more money to make your car look more enticing. They didn't take any deposite until they assign you a carrier, which is great! I posted my car on the 16th for first available pick up on the 19th, on the 17th they called back with an offer. I was so shocked that I wasn't actually ready to hand my car over!! I asked for an extra day, and the carrier was willing to pick up on the 20th. They did say they would pick up between 12-3 and didn't pick up until 5 pm, which is understandable because of LA traffic. Take pictures of your car if anything happens, and they did allow up to 100 pounds of stuff in your car, but obviously don't leave valuables in your car! Anyways my car arrived in Massachusetts on the 25th, making that five days across country, I didn't know that was physically possible, but everything here was worth it. Such a great deal, under 900$ and no hidden fees, the greatest part is, they actually do what they say they're going to do! My only critique is that David was sometimes hard to get a hold of, but just leave a message, and he'll call you back. My car did come back dirty, but it's expected since it is an open carrier. No big deal though, a little soap and water takes care of that. Go with this company, it really is worth it!
