After being hounded by multiple brokers for our transport, we decided to go with Secure Auto despite some troubling reviews. I should have paid closer attention. Before agreeing to have a truck pick up our RV, I specifically asked more than once if the amount we were quoted($995) was all inclusive of fees, tolls, etc, and was due upon delivery. We also made it clear that we didn't have cash, and needed to pay with a credit card. After taking almost two weeks to find a driver that I was assured had already been found, I got a call from William saying that he had someone in the area that was ready to go. He said that he needed to run my card for the $200 deposit, and that I could pay the rest upon delivery. What?!? I was told that I didn't have to pay anything until my vehicle was delivered. I guess I understand needing to get some kind of deposit to cover initial gas, but why wasn't I told about that when we asked originally? "Ok I guess, as soon as my vehicle gets picked up you can charge the $200, but don't charge the balance until after I have my vehicle in hand." Fast forward several hours, I get a call from the driver telling me that he has my vehicle (yay!) and the balance of $795 is due when he gets there. I say "ok great, I will give you my card number when you drop it off" and he says, no - you have to pay in cash. I tell him I can't do that, I had already discussed that with William. He hangs up to call and straighten things out. I get a call back from Secure's dispatch telling me that I can pay for it with a card, but there will be a $350 fee to run the card, and I need to pay the entire amount up front. Um, no. That's not an acceptable solution for anyone. $350 are you serious?!? We went back and forth for several phone calls, until William started insulting my intelligence, calling me stupid and saying he didn't need my $200 and was just going to cancel the pickup (my vehicle was already on the truck at this point and driving towards me). I told him please do, I would find someone else that wasn't going to try to screw me. I thought that was the end of it, but my father ended up calling behind my back and telling them that he would pay the cash and to send the RV anyway. The driver we got was from Pro Road Transport, and he was fantastic. He delivered the vehicle in perfect shape exactly when he said he would. He was kind and respectful and even helped us position the RV in front of our house before he left. He is not the problem, the broker - Secure Auto Transport is. As of right now, I am being threatened with a lien because something went wrong with my credit card number and they don't want to wait a few hours for me to get home to look at the card and verify the numbers they have. These people are rude, disrespectful and downright shady. They will say anything to get you to agree, then have you sign a contract that says the charges are variable, with maybe some extra fees for fuel, or personal items, or driver availability. Please don't risk your sanity and vehicle going with this broker - find someone more deserving of your money and business.
