Not responsible for mechanical damages!

Reindeer was extremely difficult when scheduling, causing a long delay getting my vehicle transported. This led to extra days of having to rent a car at my destination while waiting for my vehicle to be delivered.

Immediately after having my 2008 Toyota RAV4 relocated, a strange sound started coming from outside the cabin of my vehicle. The dealership informed me that the right rear viscous coupling on my vehicle had been worn to an undrivable state.

After weeks of back and forth with reindeer and my relocation company, I was held to Reindeer clause which states that they do not cause mechanical damages. Because I could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were responsible for the damage (they argue normal wear and tear), they claim no responsibility for damages of this type. Looking at other reviews of this company, it is clear that I am not the only person who has encountered this issue and the subsequent difficulty working with Reindeer to try to resolve the situation.

According to my mechanic, there is no way to prove 100% what exactly caused the excessive wear and tear on the viscous coupling. We only know that it was in 100% working order at the time of pick up and worn to an undrivable state afterwards.

These points are moot, however, because, Reindeer's fine print absolves them from any liability related to mechanical damages unless the vehicle owner identifies them at the time of drop off. In practice, this does not happen because at drop off, the delivery driver unloads the vehicle and parks it.

In retrospect, I would have driven the car from WI to CT, spent $ on gas instead of plane tickets and used my $2000 I spent to repair my vehicle after the relocation on a nice vacation.

Not even to mention that everyone at Reindeer was extremely defensive and very difficult to work with through this process.

We confirmed with our motor carriers that this vehicle was not towed at any point during the transport. The technician who inspected the vehicle admitted that he could not really tell how the issue was caused. The technician also said if the vehicle had not been towed then the needed repair would be due to normal wear and tear. As our contract specifically excludes mechanical functions, and there is no proof of negligence, we are unable to provide payment for this claim.
