Damage Free and Timely Transport Some Lesser Issues

I had a specific 2-day pick up window for my vehicle in Vegas when I was back in town to oversee the pick-up of my vehicle that was being transported to the Chicago suburbs. Lang at Red Carpet (the auto transport broker) was friendly, courteous and responsive to my many questions.

My only issues were that:

1. I gave in the order about 2 weeks ahead and I didn't get a bite from a transporter until 3 days before the actual pick-up date. And at first they only got someone who was not able to meet my dates, but later the same day did get a bite for someone who could meet my date. I've shipped vehicles twice before and never had it go down to the wire like that- lots of nervous time for myself and my husband, and I thought the route between two major cities shouldn't have been such a challenge. Lang did explain that it's all a matter of who's going where and pick-up and delivery requirements.

2. When it came down to the day before pick-up and I was eagerly awaiting to hear from my driver who I was told would call me the day before, and Lang promised to stay on top of the situation as the driver made his way from CA to Vegas for the pick-up, and I never did hear from her, and found out after the weekend pick-up that she had a familyu emergency. Understandable, but someone should have been assigned to work with me in her absence on this crucial time in my order.

The actual transporter, State Wide I have mixed feelings about. In fairness, they delivered my vehicle in great shape- no damage- which was my biggest worry having experienced that one other time in shipping a vehicle. On the other hand, there were these issues which were frustrating:

1. The driver never called me first. I had to constantly follow-up with him. I never heard from him the day before my pick-up as I was told would be the case, so I called his office and got his number. Since we were only in Vegas for less than 2 days and had a lot to take care of around town, I wanted to know if he was doing an AM or PM pick-up, and about what time window. He told me probably afternoon but then he said he wasn't sure and would call me 8 or 9 in the AM. He didn't call. I called him and found out the time. He did call me for directions and he picked up my vehicle just slightly after the time he said. For delivery, I had to call him each day to see what the deal was- he never initiated the contact.

2. He originally told us he would be in the area for delivery Monday night which was actually ahead of when we expected and were not back until late that night, so we set delivery for Tuesday morning. On Monday PM when I called before my flight took off, he told me he wasn't going to be there, it would be Wednesday. We weren't so concerned with actually when the vehicle was delivered within a reasonable time, but if you say you're going to deliver, you should be able to. We found out at pick-up he had an issue with one of his truck's tires and lost 6 hours, but that wasn't explained.

3. The day of delivery. Driver said he knew the area and lived about 4 miles away. We specifically said the mall right adjacent to where we lived to make delivery easy and said a specific store to meet in the lot by. We're waiting and waiting and he isn't showing up. My husband was on his lunch hour and only had limited time. Finally he called us about 20 minutes after he was supposed to meet us. He started telling us what stores and the cross streets he was on, and we realized he was waiting at the wrong mall. So we had to drive 15 minutes away to go get the vehicle. It would've been fine if we said that mall from the beginning, but he agreed to the one we suggested and we wasted a half an hour when he was at the wrong location.

4. At one point, the vehicle must've been turned around to face backwards- it left facing forward at the top back, because there were lots of bugs stuck onto the tailgate and back of the cab and windows which required extra work for us to get off. Vehicle was washed before it left.

So ultimately, the vehicle was delivered timely and damage-free which were our biggest concerns, and for that we would use either the broker or transporter again. We just felt that to earn a 5-star review, the items noted in this review would have needed to not occur. The transporter does reflect on the broker.
