I contacted Steve Anderson on 4/6/16 at 10pmEST. Yes, that is TEN P.M. The guy was still at it. On his way out the door for the evening.
I suppose like everyone else, I wanted my newly purchased, completely restored 1966 GTO "yesterday." Only thing that interfered was about 2200 miles and no takers for my difficult availability and the Seller's mis-management of shipping.
Steve unselfishly set aside heading out the door, patiently educated me on the process, immediately identified Seller's low bid as cause of delay and correctly identified the price point that would get pick-up action on my ridiculous wish: TWO DAYS later. Then, without ever having spoken to me before in his life, Steve trusted I was not jacking around and took the risk of posting job immediately.
All I had heard about the business of moving cars was shippers were NEVER on time. Lots of promises, lots of excuses for failed execution. So, I was skeptical.
Turns out with Steve on the job skepticism was unnecessary.
Before lunch THE FOLLOWING DAY Steve Anderson had it wrapped: hard enclosed, strapped-tire trailer sourced for pick-up the following day. "Yea, right," I thought. "Get the contract signed and start the excuses." Turned out I was ill-prepared for Steve's integrity, experience and professionalism, again: Steve Anderson had the trailer in position on 4/8/16 at 1:30pm EST - THIRTY NINE POINT FIVE HOURS SINCE I CONTACTED HIM OUT OF THE BLUE ON HIS WAY HOME FOR THE EVENING.
The rest went just as Steve committed. Well, not exactly. He accurately informed me Truckers, if asked when they will deliver, will say, 'a week,' but that they always beat the mark. I was just hoping I MIGHT see it in a week and not have to solve a schedule conflict at great personal cost when it went into the following week. I sensed Steve was holding something back when he would not give me a day of delivery. This time I was right: he was holding back what his EXPERIENCE told him but that he did not want me to count on: my car was going to be in my hands IN DAYS. Unbelievable.
I contacted Steve 4/12/16 evening for an update. He took the call, said he would reach out to Driver and get back with me. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER Steve called back with news the vehicle would be delivered THE FOLLOWING DAY. THIRTY MINUTES LATER the Driver called me to confirm morning delivery.
My vehicle was delivered to my home, 35 miles from a primary interstate, on 4/13/16 at 7:30amMTN. 2200+ miles inside seven days, begun with a past-end-of-the-day customer. Vehicle was just as it left pickup place. The delivery equipment was right for the job. The driver was very personable and professional.
I cannot imagine how this could have gone better, thanks to Steve Anderson's character, experience and MIRACULOUS EXECUTION.
