New Times Moving is a fake and fraudulent company. I should have known that probably most of all these positive reviews on this site are probably from their employee trying to make them look good. I signed up for a move from Blythewood South Carolina to Stamford, Connecticut this past April. Spoke to Time Erickson on multiple occasions had reassured me that I will be dealing with the same company all along (from pick-up to delivery). I got a binding quote of $1869.35. Well that was my mistake to trust Tim and this company. On the schedule date of pick-up, the scheduled time was between 9-11am. Driver never showed up till 3pm that afternoon. Well I should have seen this as a sign of more bad things to come. Whatever you do, if you happen to get this company don't sign any papers until you are certain who you are dealing with. I found out from the driver that he was not from New Times Moving company as I was guaranteed by Tim but from State Wide Relocation and this dudes were trying to have been sign a form (to guarantee a tip) when they were late and hadn't even started moving my stuff. I had already put my things in boxes and placed them in the garage ready to ease their work and I still had boxes that could be used for other things. Without even asking me, these loaders put some of my things in their own boxes (their boxes cost $30 apiece). I told them to take my stuff out of their boxes and still use mine. Bunch of thieves, and guess what at the end of the packing he still presented me with a $89 charge for packing my stuff even though he used my boxes. Can you imagine the nerve these people have, I told him he better take that charge off which he did. Apparently after they had packed my stuff they claimed I was beyond my allocated capacity and would be charged for the extra space my stuff had taken up. So from $1869.35 binding quote, it became $3012, a thousand more than I had signed up for. Since they had already loaded my stuff, I was told if they had to take it off, it would cost $1000. So they pretty much had me now and all I had to do was go with it.
I schedule for delivery on May 2nd but got a call from the dispatching saying that they can make it on the 27th of April. Mind you, I am still in South Carolina at this time and my future residence in Stamford is a New apartment building which requires one to book the elevator for any move-in. so I had to scramble and try to get a spot for Friday which I did between 6-8pm and relayed that back to the dispatch for confirmation. I had to take off and fly to Connecticut to be there for Friday the 27th delivery. On my way to Stamford to wait for the driver, I got a call from dispatch telling that unfortunately they won't be able to meet that 6-8pm time because the driver dislocated his shoulder. How do you dislocate your shoulder while driving? Mind you at this point I am dealing now with State Wide Relocation and contact person was Stefanie from billing department who was trying to have me pay the balance over the phone when my stuff was not delivered. This was one of the worse experiences of my life. So they could not deliver on the Friday and we manage to plead with the leasing office to give us a slot on Saturday between 6-8pm. Driver got to Stamford and I guess hired some local friends of his who were very unprofessional. They mishandled my items seven the ones that were clearly labeled GLASS/FRAGILE. All my wine glasses were broken and my road bike handle tapes which were new were ripped. One of the guys left before the offloading was done, and had the audacity to ask me if they were supposed to reassembly the beds and tables. I ended up had to start doing the reassembly myself cause I could no longer rely on them. The driver and the other helper eventually came and helped. In all this would have been a whole lot easier, stress less and cheaper had I just rented a Penske truck and drove the stuff myself. Worse company ever, customer service was horrible. I would not recommend either New Times Moving or State Wide Relocation to anyone. Please stay away from these scammers.
