Transport car from Asheville, NC to Jacksonville, FL

Last week while vacationing near Asheville, NC, one of our vehicles, a 2008 Toyota Prius, began acting up and we decided that it was no longer safe to drive it back 7 hours to Jacksonville, FL. Our other car was not suitable to tow it back and after checking wih UHaul prices I decided that shipping it back was the best option we had. I filled out a form on line and began to be contacted by probably a dozen transportation companies. Amongst many others MoverJet Logistics LLC seemed to be ready to move it "we have a driver in your area" and had a good price, they said they could get it back for $350. I found a place where they would be able to safely pickup the vehicle and left them information on where it was and who they had to talk to in order to get the key. The car was not picked up before we left 3 days later even though "they had a driver in the area". I was told that we would be notified when it was going to be picked up. Fast forward to 6 days later. Yesterday, Monday, I received a message that they had two options for drivers. Price was not $700 from one, or $650 from the other. I told them that was insane as it was double the price they had quoted me. A half hour later they got back and said the one driver would do it for $550. Caught over a barrel I ok'd it since I didn't really have another choice except to go through this whole process again with another shipper. It was around noon. The transport company that was contracted to haul my car began contacting me nearly immediately. I figured that was a good thing. They said they would be there in an hour. They weren't. The car was finally picked up at 3:30pm. At 10pm Monday night the driver contacted me saying he would be here at 9am Tuesday morning. I'm self-employed so that was going to work out perfect. Didn't show up at 9. Didn't show up at 10. Didn't show up at 11. FINALLY showed up at almost noon. So, in summary, if you want to be mis-quoted and pay double what you thought you were going to pay, and waste a half day of work waiting for your vehicle, I'd find another company to work with.
