A tough experience, worth it in the end

I had a terrible experience shipping my truck, but Montway was extremely helpful in helping collect insurance money to cover repairs. Sounds like an odd way to begin a 5-star review, right? First of all, you should know that Montway is not a shipping company. It's a broker. That means it serves a middleman between the owner of the vehicle and the shipper. In my case, my new truck was damaged in route in a hit and run accident in a truck stop parking lot while in possession of the shipper, IC Transportation. Upon delivery, I had to pay cash to accept receipt of a badly damaged vehicle. The driver promised that they would pay for repairs out of pocket and urged me not to contact Montway or my insurance company. So, I contacted Montway, who vouched for IC's trustworthiness. I then took the vehicle to a repair shop and paid for repairs out of pocket. Montway then helped press the shipper into paying. It turned out that IC didn't have the means to pay out of pocket, and 2 weeks after the accident, they filed an insurance claim with Progressive. In the meantime, Montway collected the deductible from IC. A month went by while Progressive waited for IC to submit their driver logs. After several weeks, I finally received payment from Progressive, less the deductible. Because of the CV-19 shutdown, Montway had a hard time cutting and mailing the deductible check, but after 2 weeks, I got the check in the mail. Montway was very helpful during the process (especially Karla in claims). I started to knock off a star for the slowness in getting the deductible check, but everyone is doing the best they can under the circumstances. In the end, everything was resolved. Just know that shipping a vehicle is not a risk-free proposition, but having a broker like Montway is helpful because shippers rely on brokers for future jobs. If they flake out, they're not going to get work, so they're more likely to do the right thing. Montway kept the pressure on the shipper and communicated clearly and frequently about the situation.
