Had to transport a car from LI, NY to Boca Raton, FL, and had to be there by a certain date as my daughter was moving to FL and starting her first real job. No car, no job. Eric at Mercury Transport was good. I explained this all to him and he said he would take car of it so the car would be there in time. Sometimes had a hard time getting in touch with him, but most times was very helpful and understanding.
Due to storm on LI (Irene) pickup was delayed to the Tuesday after the storm, but understandable. Still plenty of time. Eddie the driver seemed to be good, and said he had been transporting for years. Problem was at the destination end. A male relative who lives in Fl was going to accept the car for my daughter and me. I was first told the delivery would be the following Saturday or Sunday (5-6 days). So people stayed home both days waiting for Eddie to call that car was going to be delivered. Then came Labor Day, and delivery was scheduled for 9 - 10 AM on the Tuesday after. No show. Eddie was almost impossible to contact. Numerous voice messages left by my relative and me and not returned. I think he used Caller ID to screen the calls, or he did not answer calls with numbers he did not recognize (home as compared to cell). Finally, said he was on his way, but now it was after 9 PM and due to small kids at home were going to bed and relative's spouse could not leave to get the car (gated community). Male relative had to leave early from a business function and rush home. When he questioned driver about being so late, etc. driver apparently did not like that and took off with my car and put it back on the truck. I had to call everyone from NY to have it taken off truck again and delivered. I have no clue what would have become of the car at that point or if it would have been delivered on time for my daughter to get to her first work in Miami.
When my daughter and I flew in and arrived two days later I inspected the car. No damage, but the entire right side, roof, and rear appeared to be covered in some blue fluid that would not wash off (car was detailed one day before departure). Long streaks and spots all over. Car washes did not work, and had to use special cleaners and waxes to get most, but not all off. Windex would not even get it off the windows. I was told at one car wash that it may have been some kind of hydraulic fluid or other substance that leaked from the transport truck. Not a happy camper and would use someone else in the future
