Late Pickup, Misquoted, Poor follow up

At first I was quite impressed but then I did not receive a confirmation of my order and promised and when my car was late in getting picked up I had to call to see what was happening as oppossed to being kept up to date which I think should happen if the pickup is a week overdue. When I did call to see what the hold up was, I was presented with two potential carriers almost immediately which may have been a coincidence but I did think that my case was not being attended to. Also, the first option presented to me was 28% ($400 more) higher than my original quote of $1,450 which I refused and then the second option was 20% higher ($300). It was not explained to me that at the outset that there may be a price increase. Casey did agree to reduce their fee by $100 so I ended up paying $200 more than I expected. That notwithstanding, to be a week late and then be presented with such a large increase in price felt like a bait and switch especially since we had already left and really had no option but to continue as any savings to be foudn by starting over would be negated by what I was paying for a rental car. (It ended up costing me an extra $500 to rent a mini-van for an extra week because they were late). Last I was told it would be okay and without charge to pack a few items in the back of the car behind the seats. When the driver came to finally pick up the car, he called and said it would be an extra $150 due to the packed items. So due to the low ball quote and the late pickup, and being charged for having a few items in the car that was supposed to be ok, I ended up paying $850 more than necessary or expected

Ultimately the car arrived in decent shape but a bit dirty from the cross country trip. The entire experience could have been different with better communication and realistic setting of expectations. Also, now that I understand the process, for a company that has been doing this awhile, I would expect their quote to be off by no more than 5%. 20% and 28% off after having two weeks to search if way out of line. I'd have been happy to pay what I did though if I expected it up front and the pick up was on time.

We talked about the quote on your mini van and that it could go up . But in the middle of the peak season and a transport over 3000 miles that's why your cost went up .
