My daughter moved from Seattle to Knoxville, Tennessee this summer, but left her 2010 Hyundai Elantra in Seattle. She was looking at $1000 cars on Craigs List in Knoxville when I thought about looking into the cost of shipping her car to her. The price was about the same to ship as to buy a potential Craig's List hunk o' junk, so I looked for a reputable company to handle the shipping.

Magic Carpet's reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so I gave them a call. Kathy Ashlock was very helpful and reassuring about how the process works. Never having shipped a car before, I had some concerns, but Kathy effectively addressed all of them. She also said she would match any other offer from a 4 or 5 star rated company.

I got an offer about $100 lower than her original and she matched it! I put in the order to Kathy on the afternoon of Friday, October 7. I got a call from a driver on the afternon of Monday, October 10 that the car would be picked up around noon on Wednesday.


Car was finished loading on the truck at around 2pm (load process took about 1 hour) on Wednesday afternoon and the car was delivered in Knoxville, Tennessee at around 9pm Saturday evening, October 15.


Kathy had given a conservative estimate of 7 days to pickup and 7-9 days for deliver from pickup date, so I was very happy that everything happened so quickly.


Magic Carpet made the process easy and has a terrific policy of not charging anything until the car is actually picked up. Since there is always the possibility that it may take a while to get a pickup scheduled it is nice not to have money out of pocket until there is something real for which to be charged.


I will definitely use Magic Carpet again if ever I have to ship a vehicle. Shipping a vehicle certainly is a lot less wear and tear than a cross country drive, and is probably cheaper, too.
