I was able to speak with Erik Roswell after normal work hours (6-7 PM EST). His description of the process matched my research.
The broker fee was $195. A week after I first contacted him, the going rate increased from $800 to $850 due to demand from snowbirds. He found me a company that he had worked with before. Pickup was to be on Monday 3/30.
Alex, my other contact there, told me that the transport company's truck had a breakdown. King of the Road gave me status updates. On Wednesday afternoon (4/1), Erik got in touch with the company, and the trucker was able to pick up my car on that night.
The car was delivered Tuesday 4/7 which is within the 7-10 day estimate that Erik gave. This is 6 days after pickup or 8 days after the first day of availability.
My first auto shipping experience went well. I recommend King of the Road.
