I shipped my 2007 Honda Accord from Seattle, Washington to St Paul, Minnesota in June 2014. Intransit, LLC is the carrier company chosen by the broker company I used (AmeriFreight). I had several concerns about the service provided by Intransit:
1) Lack of responsiveness: I was given Natasha's contact information on May 12th to open lines of communication regarding shipping my vehicle. I never received a call back, despite 3 phone calls to Natasha's phone number between May and June 2014. I was only able to confirm my car shipping through AmeriFreight, but not Intransit.
2) Poor communication: After multiple attempts to confirm the shipping dates, I called again on June 23rd, the first date I was given by AmeriFreight for pick-up. The dispatcher told me the driver was leaving the terminal in 30-40 minutes to pick-up my car. I wondered if I hadn't called THEM, how I would have been notified that my car was being picked up that day. Given I only had 1.5 hours notice, I had to leave work to meet the driver in a parking lot. The car was delivered 2 days earlier than originally told, and we were given 9 hours notice at that time (we were told we would be given 24 hours notice). However, our car was delivered at 10:30 pm in a corporate parking lot underneath a lamp, which was not an ideal situation to receive the vehicle.
3) Unwilling to share insurance policy: When I asked Intransit for their insurance policy, they stated they only share their policy when there are cases of litigation, which was concerning.
4) Dishonest Driver: By far my largest concern was Vitaly, the driver who picked up my vehicle in Seattle. My 2007 vehicle has 41,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition. On the vehicle release and inspection form, Vitaly marked a box that said "Vehicles too dirty for proper inspection" and another box that stated "Damage all around, too much to list, Vehicle goes as is. Intransit Not Responsible." These two statements were completely false. I asked how it could be that my car was too dirty to inspect when we were looking at a clean vehicle, and he stated it was dusty. He also stated that the box regarding damage all around was simply to checked as Intransit was not responsible for the existing damage, which he stated there were minor scratches on the car which is considered damage. I amended the form to state the vehicle was dusty and only had minor scratches. I had also taken photos of my car 10 minutes prior to pick-up and my only consolation had my car not arrived without much damage was that I would have these photos to demonstrate I had a clean vehicle without any visible damage. It appeared to me that Vitaly himself or his company instructs him to check these boxes in case of any damage occurring while the vehicle is being shipped, but was incredibly dishonest.
Unfortunately, when shipping a car through a broker company, the customer is not able to choose the shipping company.
