This was my third experience having to use an auto transport company. My first two experiences with the other car carriers was satisfactory, but nothing extraordinary. Meaning, they picked the cars up on time and I received them on time, and in good condition. Both of these carriers were open transport carriers. This was the first time that I was specifically looking for an enclosed auto transport. I was shipping a very original, low mileage, 1981 Triumph TR8 convertible, that I had purchased sight unseen, from the seller who lives in northern California to my home in Virginia. Weeks before deciding on using Intercity Lines Inc., I had once again thoroughly researched auto transport companies by reading reviews such as these, visiting each companies website, researching the company and reading reports from the BBB and/or consumer reports, and calling the company and asking direct questions that I had on the specific transport. Having done my homework and finally deciding on using Intercity Lines Inc., I was truly pleased with their overall service and would use them again, and would recommend them to anyone if they desire to have an auto transported. When I was receiving quotes from all the other carriers for this transport (21 different company quotes in total) I received my quote (from Jim Bergeron) from Intercity just as quick as any of the other quotes. The quote ($1,777) wasn't the highest of all the quotes that I received, but it was on the high end. I was budgeting for around $1,500. After I confirmed my transport with Intercity Lines, the rest of the transport details was handed over to Sharon Snedeker who kept me informed through e-mail. I was assigned a transport driver (Glen) who picked up the vehicle eight days later. The pick up had to be arranged at a point where the driver could have easy access to load the vehicle as the sellers home was rather remote and not accessible for an 18 wheel truck. From all reports that the seller passed on to me, he told me that the pick up and load went smoothly. The seller told me that the driver contacted him a few days before the pick up and they agreed on a pick up point for loading the vehicle. The car was prepped as promised with nylon wheel tie downs, and covered. Glen, the driver, called me two days before delivery and we made an agreement for a time for delivery. On delivery day, Glen called me to tell me that delivery would be about an hour later then agreed upon. I had no problems with that, it was my day off from work anyway and I had all day. I was pleased and appreciated that he had even called to tell me he was going to be late. I noticed, when Glen opened up the transport, that my vehicle had arrived as promised with the nylon tie down straps and it was covered. When Glen tried to off loaded my vehicle he found that the battery was to weak to start the car. He was able to get the car started with a portable battery charger that he carried with him in his rig. The off load of my vehicle went smoothly, there was no damage to my vehicle, and I am now pleased to say that I am a new owner of a collector Triumph TR8! Overall the experience with Intercity Lines Inc. was a good one. I was kept well informed on the details of my vehicle transport and I would recommend the use of their business, and use them again myself.
