Gold Star Transport went the extra mile on every aspect of our experience, from start to finish. I have only the best to say about Ellen and Richard Kealy at Gold Star. Ellen called me when I requested a quote and she was thoroughly polite, honest, knowledgeable, and helpful. She even gave me advice on what to look for and to request if I were to choose a competitor.
We shipped a Volvo S40 virtually from coast to coast, from Sacramento CA to Washington DC. It arrived in 7 days with no damage and as clean as it was when I handed the keys to the driver. Ellen kept me posted on the status during transport. My daughter received a call one day in advance with an estimated time of delivery. She got a call from the driver the morning of the delivery with a revised estimate for time of delivery and it was delivered a few hours later right on schedule. The driver even drove the car to pick up my daughter because she had no ride to the drop-off point. He needed a larger area to unload the car than was available close to my daughter's Georgetown apartment.
Every time I spoke to Ellen or anybody involved with Gold Star, I was impressed with their genuine integrity and good cheer. I neve felt pressured or like I was being " sold" something I wasn't sure I wanted.
We paid extra to have my daughter's Volvo shipped in an enclosed carrier 3,000 mile across the country. We did this because my wife's Monte Carlo was shipped cross-country from Philly to San Jose in 1980 on an open carrier. The outside of the Monte Carlo was filthy from driving through the desert, so that was understandable. However, to avoid the windows from cracking from heat build-up inside the car, the driver left the windows partially open, so the inside of that car, in the 1980 move, was as filthy on the inside with desert grit as it was on the outside. For that reason we chose to pony up twice the ordinary cost of transport for an enclosed carrier in order to avoid the chance of a repeat experience.
I told Ellen about our previous experience and our concerns, so she told me that she would have our car shipped by the best carrier available to her. Once again, there was no BS in what she told me. At pick-up, two cars worth at least a million dollars apiece were alrealy loaded on the carrier- a red Ferrari and a Lamborghini. There was also a fully restored antique Ford on board. Our little Volvo was in good company on the long ride cross-country. The driver was first-class and promised me he would personally deliver our car with the same care he would give the the other cars onboard. He delivered on his promise.
I have examined and re-examined the process from beginning to end, and there wasn't a single thing that would give me any reason whatsoever to give anything less than my 100% recommendation for Gold Star, and this is the first time in my 57 years that I can say that. I am thoroughly impressed with my experience with this company.
