***UPDATE*** I have been contacted by David who has assured me that the transport company (Silk Road) that was the cause of many of the issues associated with this transportation has been put on a list so as not to be used again, and that he has warned other companies about using this transporter. We are working out the financial issues, including the discount the transporter was supposed to give us, but didn't.*
My husband contacted Get It done Transportation back in March about transporting our electric car from VA to PA. He received an email from David Pein that included the following information: One, a price guarantee of $390- (2) that we would receive 3 references on the driver- (3) the email would include the drivers ratings (must be 98% or better)- (4) we would receive a FULL background check on the driver- (5) we would get the Motor Carrier License #- (6) we would also receive Insurance Docs (showing that the vehicle is fully insured w/ NO DEDUCTIBLE held against you) and (7) we would have the maintenance record of the truck carrying our vehicle. We didn't get this information.
First, we were told that the cost would be $390. The link to our account said $395. Our credit card was charged the deposit of $95 and we paid $320 in cash upon delivery, so the total was $415, i.e. $25 more than we were told and have in writing. I have contacted David repeatedly about the overcharge. On 04/16/18, he said he would credit our card. It's not about the money, but it is about the principle.
Second, we never received the information promised about the truck or the driver. And once there was a problem with both, we felt that we were on our own. Here's what happened:
- our car was picked up on the day it was supposed to be picked up - so far so good.
- The driver said the vehicle would be delivered one to two days later - fine.
- Late in the afternoon of the 2nd day, I still hadn't heard from the driver. So I called the driver. He immediately said he would call me back, then didn't, and then wouldn't pick up the phone. And then things went really downhill!
- When I tricked the driver into picking up his phone by calling from a different one, he said our call was in Philly (an hour away) and we could get it if we wanted it, because the truck had broken down. When I said no, he said he didn't know when it would be delivered, but maybe the following week.
- the following week comes, and on Monday I hear nothing. I started trying to reach David to help, but he was literally no help.
- On Tuesday, we hear from the driver that the car will be delivered that night. That night comes and very late my husband gets a call from the driver that 'the truck has broken down, and a tow truck will be called and the car delivered still that night.'. Then nothing - no car, no call, nothing.
- By Wednesday morning we are very, very concerned that something has happened to the car as it seems we are being lied to. We tried to reach David. .
- I had to spend my time to track down a different number for the transport company and get someone else on the phone, and finally found out that they were hiring a different company to get our car from Philly to the delivery location an hour away. Then finally the car was delivered on try #3 that night.
All of this was incredibly frustrating because our contract was with Get It Done Transportation, and as far as I can tell, the only role they had was taking our money and making the initial contact with the actual transport company. If there are problems, you are on your own.
