I was unfortunate to have been assigned FHT Auto Transport Inc. from Laguna Hills, Ca. the carrier to transport my newly restored 1967 Mustang GT from San Diego, CA. to Severna Park, MD. The broker was AAA Automovers located in New Jersey.

I was initially sent an email from AAA Automovers telling me that the carrier FHT has been assigned and that they would contact me within 6 to 24 hours. AAA Automovers was directed to let me know with a 2 to 4 hour pickup window so they could pass this on to the carrier.

I received the email but got absolutely no response from the carrier FHT. I waited two days then had to call them. The guy that answered (never gave his name) told me that he would have to research it and get back to me. He never did and I had, once again, called FHT. It seems that any extension of their phone system lead to the same person. The idiot on the phone, I found out later, was the owner and FHT was a one man operation with absolutely ZERO customer service skills.

I then told him my contract number so he could reference the info and let me know what I needed to know. He informed me that the contact number does him no good to find me in his computer. He eventually found me and proceeded to tell me the pickup dates. I told him that I needed a 2 to 4 hour window to make sure that I can get the car at the pickup location on time. He indicated that he would have to get back to me with that info and would call me back that day.

Of course he nor anyone else called me with that info. I had to call them again and this time never got past the recording. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday so don't even think about trying to contact them or wait for a call from them, it isn't going to happen.

After the weekend I called them again and to tell you the truth this guy (the owner) sounded like a retarded idiot on the phone. When I finally reached him again he said, "oh yeh, I forgot to call ya" and proceeded to say that he would have to get back to me with that info.

I eventually had to call FHT once again to find out the pickup date and times. The pickup date changed to 2 days later and the time was "in the afternoon sometime". This was his best effort.

I then asked for the drivers name and phone. That was the only way I finally got to talk to someone that knew what they were doing.

I met the truck late in the afternoon and the pickup went OK. I was under the impression from talking to FHT that after the pickup the car was headed to Maryland, but I was wrong. The driver told me that the car was going back up to Laguna Hills, CA., off-loaded, and wait for a cross country transport. So, when the car actually left for Maryland I don't have a clue and could not find out from the company.

During this time I also called the transport broker AAA Automovers out of NJ and they knew very little about this company and the only contact information was what I already had. Absolutely NO HELP.

I flew to Maryland to meet the car. After arriving I called FHT transport to confirm the shipping of the car and the actual location of the car at that time. I was told and I quote, "it is in route somewhere but on the way". How stupid of this guy, I knew it was on it's way "somewhere". I wanted to know where. He said he would call me back with that info. A day later I had to call to find out and got the same response so I asked to speak with his supervisor and he said he was the supervisor so that led me nowhere. I received a call later that day from a Susan and asked what the problem was. She indicated to me that she would find out and call me back by the next day. No phone call.

I had to call FHT again and asked for the drivers phone and name. The driver was cordial and updated me with the information. He had been working with FHT only a short time and told me that FHT (owner) got mad at him just the other day. He is an independent trucker and must put up with that crap. I am a customer and I want info but got none.

I received absolutely no satisfaction from this company and would never recommend FHT to anyone, not for any price nor any distance. Local or long distance.

When the car (black paint job) arrived I inspected it and found white overspray on one fender and oil drippings all over the hood, top and trunk. I was not a happy camper.

This company FHT Auto Transport of Laguna Hills, CA. should not be in the transport business and the owner should not be allowed to deal with the public, he lacks the skills and knowledge.

Respectfully,
Lou Main
