We contacted Direct Express upon a recommendation from friends who had used them to ship a car to Florida. Overall, the experience was a good one, with a few issues along the way. All of the people we interacted with from the company were pleasant and helpful. However,when inquiring how long it would take for the car to get there, two of the three people told us it would take 4-5 days; a third person insisted it would take only two days. It took five full days. Because we were working around a holiday (Labor Day) and no one was able to pick up the car before a certain date, our order was a bit tricky. We clearly stated to Direct Express the earliest date that the car could be delivered. So, the first carrier that was assigned to us was scheduled to pick up the car in a timely manner, but would have delivered it before anyone was there to receive (and pay) for it. Direct Express handled the problem and reassigned us to a new carrier; however, we were surprised that this was even an issue after stating our situation very clearly with Direct Express several times. The new carrier picked up the car in Illinois on a Tuesday, within a day of the assigned pick up date. We appreciated being able to track the car and get an estimated date of delivery. On Friday, we contacted the driver and he told us to expect the car between 5 and 7 p.m. on Saturday. On Saturday afternoon, the expected arrival was 7-9 p.m.; at 9 p.m. we called the driver and was told it would be 9:30. The car arrived at 11 p.m. Understandably, the transport process is affected by weather and traffic, but the delivery part was a bit frustrating due to the multiple time changes on the delivery date. Additionally, having the car delivered at 11 p.m. made it difficult to inspect the car upon receipt. Aside from the delivery logistics, the carrier and driver were very pleasant and easy to work with. As this was our first time shipping a car, we did not really know what to expect. Overall, we had a good experience and would use Direct Express again if we needed to ship a car in the future.
