We chose Direct because they had RAVE reviews and they quoted a good price- not the lowest we were quoted, but good.

We placed our order with them on Nov. 7th and made the truck available Nov. 10th. I called to cancel my order this morning because there still wasn't a carrier assigned to us. My overall feeling is that they had two weeks (three days being before the truck was ready), and nothing was produced. Even if the truck wasn't available for pick up for the first three days, that’s three extra days to look for a carrier. Talk about frustration.
Anyway, it turns out that the reason it wasn't moving is because the price was to low. Every broker posts their needs on the national load board along with how much the driver will get paid to transport the vehicle. Because Direct took their 150-dollar chunk out, that left only 225 for the driver. Granted it is only a 400-mile trip, but getting up in the WV Mountains is a battle. I decided to go with a company that cost us 70 dollars more, but paid the driver almost double what Direct offered. How is this possible? My new broker's pay/deposit was only 45 dollars out of 445.00 and I don't have to pay them anything until the carrier is assigned. This broker also has the same, if not better, reviews on this site.

The moral of this story is: Look for a broker that doesn't take almost half of what they quote you to pay themselves, Don't pay a deposit until a carrier is assigned, and don't weigh a lot of your decision on who to do business with based on reviews.

Jessica is quite right when she says, "getting up in the WV Mountains is a battle." That was the problem. The West Virginia mountains can really make things difficult. Be well.
