This is my personal experience with this company. I hope it is useful to someone else. I hope this is a "good review" although it is a negative one. The price of the transport was over $900. It took 20 days which is 4 days more than ETA. That was fine and not a huge deal. i did not pay the extra cash for the guaranteed arrival. The drop off location was in Fresno which was 120 miles from our house. They were very nice at the tow yard. Friendly, clean and professional. Everything went off without a hitch on that end. Kudos to that tow yard in Fresno, Ca.
Everything went downhill when we picked up our truck at the tow yard in Powell TN. My husband got a call on his cell while at work from the tow yard saying that DAS had delivered his truck and it was ready to be picked up. Excited, he came home from work to pick me and the kids up. We get to the business and walk in with our licenses, paperwork from DAS and registration. Our keys are on the desk and we are happy to see the truck and ready to leave. We get this argumentative and confused employee. He says that so and so told him this car is on its way out. Well yeah. on its way out to be picked up by us. He says that there are people who try to get nothing for free and so on and just trying to make sure it's our vehicle. Ok, so it gets worse. I say to him "call your boss on the cell phone and this way he knows we are the right people so you don't get in trouble for releasing it". He has no cell. Fine then we ask him if there is a way to go on the computer to log in to our DAS account with all our information on there. Again, no computer. We threaten to call the police to get our property. he says if we get "heated" we just won't get our truck. At this point, having been with my husband 20 years, I can tell he's mad. So the employee just has us sign the release forms and off we go with our keys.
This is all so funny because this is an old 1993 chevy step side truck with 275,000 miles on the odometer. Out of all the cars on that lot, I would have picked another if I was trying to steal one out from under this business!
So now we are now out of this place and hauling down the gravel road to the main highway. No sooner do we go to turn out of the drive that my husband gets out and looks under the truck. he realized something was not right, the truck was hopping. Well turns out the truck was put in 4X4 drive for some reason. Now after trying to put it back in regular drive, it would not. There was damage to it. Who knows if the gears just jammed or whatever. Whoever put that truck in four by knows that it got damaged because they could not put it back in regular drive mode. So on our 11th wedding anniversary, my husband pulls to the side of the road with my truck. Having had this truck 10 years and never had any problems like this before, we were put off. My husband took the drive line off that engages the four wheel drive on the side of the road and an hour later with the drive line in the bed of my truck, we were on our way home. It's still there. The truck was messed around with, why? This is an older truck and we moved it clear across the country because it has been reliable to us through the years.
Basically, the driver who unloaded that vehicle KNEW there was something wrong with it or he would have taken it out of four wheel drive after he unloaded it. Why was nothing said? What is the deal? This is a dishonest company. We think that they put the truck in four wheel to get it up the ramp in 4 low. We TOLD the people not to use four wheel drive. The rear end had different gear ratios and they were told this. I used this company to move my truck safely as it was an older truck and we just wanted to get it there intact.
This company sucks everything about it. Jeez I have had this vehicle for 10 years and nothing happened. You get a rough truck driver who messes it up in a minute.
I have put a complaint with the BBB today as we speak. I have requested this: refund or truck repaired at a dealership. After all, they damaged it getting it on their equipment. I do NOT recommend this company. I have left a message but just like I never got a call back from customer service when I was trying to track the vehicle, I probably will not get one now.
I will update you if I have a positive outcome to the problem. But as of now, I am not holding my breath.
