I recieved a quote on a 67 Thunderbird going from Portland, OR to Burlington, VT. I was quoted $2095.00. The rate was high because the car wasn't running and we were using our corprate rates. This meant we should have had good service. I asked that the car not deliver until 3/17, so they told me it should get pickup on 3/2-3. I confirmed that the car wouldn't deliver before the 17th because the customer wouldn't have any place to put it until then. They had us pre-pay for the car. The driver didn't show up until 3/6 and never called to let us know he was running late. The truck that picked it up was a flat bed tow truck, not the car carrier that ended up hauling it out there. DAS called on 12/11 and said the car was delivering 12/12. Of course I was like what the heck. They said they needed to drop the car somewhere. I jumped through hoops to find someone to recieve the car, hold it for 5 days and then deliver it out to the customer at his house. I was able to find Many's Auto body and tow. They were great. The driver dropped the car at the Many's, but never had them check over the car before having them sign the bill of lading. It doesn't sound like the first time. DAS did agree for Many's to receive the car and paid the storage and delivery cost of $395.00. By doing this they assumed liablity for any damage all the way through the move. When the car delivered it was damaged all over the place. It had huge scratches on the hood, fender and bumber. Filed a claim with them and they denied it because they said that the bill of lading didn't have any exceptions on it. They also tried to say we didn't notify the company within the 5 days of delivery policy, which we did. This was the first of many problems with DAS. I would not recommend them to anyone. I do hope that if people use them they don't have the same experience. The whole process on that car took over 6 months and didn't get anywhere, except my company had to pay the customer $1500.00 in damages.
