Car transport problems

We used DAS based on a friend's recommendation. When we dropped off my daughter's car in VA, the man said it should be about 9-12 days to ship the car to Oregon where my daughter was starting a new job. The car was not received until 27 days after we dropped it off. This is simply not acceptable. We made repeated calls and of course the customer service contacts were of no help and couldn't explain why it was still sitting in VA. It wasn't until we pushed did we finally hear that it was going to be finally going to be transported and would be there by October 20th ( a full 20 days from drop off). This was the date on the paperwork. The car didn't arrive then and when we called all we got was a recording with an apology. This was not acceptable. My daughter was starting a new job in a town without a car and without friends/family and not old enough to get a rental car at a cheap rate. I selected DAS over other carriers and was totally disappointed. I hope this was an unusual case but since we never got straight answers from customer service, I'm skeptical.

We, at DAS, certainly understand your frustration. In transporting over 140,000 vehicles each year, we recognize that there are some shipments that will not go according to expectations. In those cases, our customer service team will work with the customer, within the guidelines of the services purchased, in any attempt to remedy the problem as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind that DAS offers a menu of services that allow each customer to tailor their move to meet their specific requirements. For instance, for the cost conscious customer, there is a program that provides terminal to terminal shipping with no guaranteed transit time. While the pricing is extremely competitive for this service, longer transit times can often become problematic for the customer. That was the case with this move. For those customers with time sensitive shipments, we offer guaranteed transit times, expedited transit times, and a Fast Track program, all available for a modest additional charge. We convey our apologies if we failed to explain the level of service you purchased and hope you will find it in your heart to reconsider using DAS in the future.
