To whom it concerns,
I just wanted to tell a true story regarding my recent experience with DAS.

The facts: DAS # 445996070. Origin port: San Juan, Puerto Rico. Destination: Fort Bliss, Texas.
Date of movement: 14-June-11 Delivery Date: 14 Jul 11, Vehicle: Black 1986 Corvette (Restored within weeks prior the shipment) In storage since 2006.

Damages during movement:

1. Front Fender broke
2. Front bumper completely cracked, dented and scratched
3. Interior completely damage with sand and water. They left both windows open and the vehicle flooded inside
4. They put tapes in the doors, side panels and in the top of the vehicle and the tape melted into the paint.
5. Driver side door panel arm rest (missing)
6. Missing door panel AC vents
7. Broken door lock switches
8. Somebody tried to remove the antenna and broke it
9. Someone broke and removed the dash, stole vent grill, all screws and factory Speakers.
10. Rear Bumper scratched and dented
11. Scratches/Dents all around vehicle
12. The wood dash trim kit unserviceable due excessive water on the inside of the vehicle

I have 3 inspections sheets.
1. Origin port (Clean inspection no scratches or dents. Only 3 things: 1. Front windshield cracked. Horn bottom missing 3. Passenger window did not close properly but it was closed.
2. Jacksonville port inspection (conducted by the truck company and specified: “Both windows wont roll up, Dirty hard to inspect and Scratches all 360)
3. Delivery day inspection (Conducted by me and same as inspection 2)

How much does DAS reimburse me? $1,800. After paying $2,542 for the shipment. Now I have to pay out of my pocket $3,200 in order to replace all the parts lus the cost to repaint the vehicle. All because they said that was (Normal Wear and Tear of the Shipment) REALLY!!!!!, There is only one way to do things and is the right way nothing in between. There is nothing wrong admitting that you did something wrong. 1st you do not deliver a car with both windows open and with dirt and water on the inside. 2nd you do not steal from a vehicle relying in an insurance. 3rd you treat people things the way you treat yours AND Now nobody wants to take responsibility.

I do not complain every time the Department of Defense send me to serve away from home (overseas) and away from my family and when that happen we just do it, we storage our belongings for undetermined period of time and once we returned back to State side we have to contract moving companies because the DOD only pay for one car and this is how moving companies say thanks to us. The money that I saved working away from my family, now I have to spend it fixing something that was not broke on shipping day. Thanks DAS
