Good price - decent outcome.

I used Dependable Auto Movers to ship an Acura MDX from Springfield, MI to Albany, OR for $855. The car was picked up and delivered without event which is good. When I hired Dependable Auto Movers - I paid a deposit of $100 (they actually charged my credit card $110) and was told that I'd be given a full refund (it would have been of only $100 - not the full $110) if they couldn't have my truck picked up within 2 weeks. They did find a driver to pick up my car but it took the entire 2 weeks. I would have liked it picked up a little faster but when hiring them - I did understand that they'd have the full 2 weeks to get my car picked up so I can't complain I guess. Once my car was picked up - it was delivered very quickly and without incident. It was picked up in MI on a Friday and I received it in OR the next Tuesday which is pretty fast I think. Now the driver told me on Monday evening that he'd deliver the truck on Tuesday morning so I took work off on Tuesday. Nothing Tuesday morning, I finally called the driver who said that he wasn't close so I went into work late. Another call made from work to the driver and he estimated that he'd be at my place at noon. Anyway, I think he finally arrived around 2pm so the overall delivery wasn't ideal because of the amount of time I wasted taking off work expecting to pick up the car - the whole day was basically shot for me. I guess you can consider that adding about $300 to the cost of delivery if you consider most of the day I took off from work expecting the car so the real cost to me to have the MDX delivered was about $1155 - still as good as some of the quotes I received from other shippers.

Would I use Dependable Auto Movers again? Yes, things could have been much worse - and the car arrived in good condition. They're price to deliver the car was much than most others and slightly lower than a couple others. One thing I am NOT happy about is that my quote said the total cost would be a $100 initial deposit plus $745 COD. When I agreed and hired them I saw my credit card had been charged $110 - not $100. On searching there website - I managed to find in their terms and conditions that there is a $10 NON-Refundable fee. This fee isn't included anywhere in the initial quote you receive and you won't know about it unless you check you credit card charge and then dig around on their website to find their terms or call to find out what the charge is. I think I could easily dispute this extra $10 with my credit card company since I never agreed to it but it's just $10 so I guess it's not really worth it (probably what they're hoping most customers will feel). Still - I think it's kind of underhanded for them to charge you more than you agree to and it's my only real complaint with them - so be aware that whatever you agree to - you'll be paying $10 more.

I'm knocking one star off my rating of this company because of the difficulty the driver had estimating his arrival time and the amount of time I ended up taking off work as a result. I'm also knocking off one star because they charged my credit card $10 I never agreed to and they should be upfront about this in their initial quote. I'll use Dependable Auto Movers again because of their very competitive prices, quick responses to emails, and the fact that my car arrived in good shape. Next time however, I'll know that whatever price I agree to - I'll be paying $10 more. Also - if they take a full 2 weeks to have my car picked up again - I probably won't be using them a third time.

Our average pick up time frame is 3 to 10 business days from your first available date. Most of our vehicles are picked up within the first week, but some vehicles in more difficult areas can take a little longer. We are not trying to hide anything from our customers but we are trying to get them to read our Terms & Conditions. The information posted on our website explains in detail how our industry works. On the bottom of our online order form it states "By clicking the 'Submit for Booking' button, I acknowledge that I have read & accept the Terms & Conditions set forth by Dependable Auto Movers, Inc." #1 in those Terms & Conditions does state that we charge a $10 processing fee on all orders. Truck drivers try to work around the customers' schedules but please realize that on a 10-car hauler, they usually have 10 different customers. They can give you their best estimate on arrival time, but if they are delayed at a pickup or delivery prior to yours, it throws off their whole schedule.
