A mixed experience

Everything went well with the actual transport of the car--it was picked up when I had been told, it was delivered on the day I was told, and there was no damage.

Before the car was picked up, however, I ran into two major problems that made my experience less than satisfactory.

1. I signed up for the service a good three weeks before my earliest pick-up date, to make sure that the car would be picked up on time. My order was initially assigned to Alexis. I was told I would hear something about a week before my earliest pick-up date, but I didn't. When I called in I was told that Alexis just had a baby, so apparently nobody was really following my order. I was told someone else would step in and call me back, but throughout that week nobody ever did. I had to keep calling, and every time I would be told about Alexis and how she was having a baby. Now, I think it's wonderful that Alexis had a baby. I love babies. I congratulate her. But I still needed to move my car. If you know how to run a business, you know that when someone has a personal issue, someone must step in and cover for her. This didn't actually happen until the day when my car was supposed to be picked up (but wasn't). Novella finally replaced Alexis. She did a good job--she found a carrier within a few days and was good at staying in touch, but my car was still picked up five days after the date that I originally wanted.

2. I was initially quoted $1235, which broke down to a deposit of $185 and a balance of $1,050 due to the driver. When the driver showed up to pick up the car, however, he indicated that he expected $1100 at delivery. I had to call Novella, and she told me that the carrier had raised the price by $100, so Cascade picked up $50 and charged me the other $50. I consider this unprofessional. Once I'm given a quote, that's the price that should apply; if the carrier charges more, Cascade is the one that should pick up the difference. Also, I had specifically asked when I placed my order whether the driver could ask more than my quote, and was told that he wouldn't.

All in all, given what a nightmare shipping a car can be, this was still a relatively positive experience, but when I ask myself whether I would use Cascade again, I really feel that I could go either way.
