This company is run by a bunch of liars who made me regret shipping my car in the first place! I booked the transportation for my brand new Volkswagen from Los Angeles to Miami through Red Carpet, and the broker, Julie, set me up with CAA Transport.
Well my first concerns started when I received absolutely no call or communication in terms of what time they would come pick up my vehicle. I called and called the day before only to receive a full voicemail inbox. I had to notify Julie and she was finally able to reach them the day of pickup. They told her that they will come for the car within 2 hours. So much for the 24 hour notice.
However, the nightmares only started the following week. It was in the agreement that the transportation would take 10 days, which is already on the long end for coast to coast transport, as many transporters only 5-7 days. However, already having given my deposit I made arrangements for a rental car. Come the day before my car was scheduled to arrive (Thursday), I called Julie again to verify the time (as CAA transport of course did not call again) only to hear that it will be a day late and arrive on Friday instead. I thought "ok, these things happen." Well, one day late turned out to be a "truck broke down, it won't arrive until Sunday or Monday" excuse. Of course, Chris (the manager) or anyone else at CAA Transport didn't even bother to notify me of this, instead I had to make my broker call them to see where the hell my car is when nothing showed up on my doorstep on Friday! At this point I was already frustrated from this lack of communication and because I needed a vehicle - and last minute car rentals aren't cheap.
Come Monday and a few more calls to Julie, I hear that apparently "there was a problem delivering a vehicle in Texas and the truck won't be in Florida until the following weekend!" I thought, what is going on? What is true here?? The people at CAA transport didn't seem to know what was happening either (apparently their customer service guy "just started that week") and each person me or Julie talked to at CAA had to "call their manager", which all looked like a bad joke being played out on me.
I was outraged because I was scheduled to start my new job that week and with absolutely no communication from the transporter and excuse after excuse they fed my broker caused me to really lose my nerve. I rented a vehicle for the entire week and attempts at getting any sort of compensation for that or a discount on the transportation were an utter failure. Again I received the "I will speak with my manager and call you back...(NOT)."
Anyway, my car did finally arrive that Friday, 8 days after its scheduled arrival. The trucker called me the morning of telling me he will be there in 30 minutes. I told him I was at work and will leave early. He then proceeded to give me attitude about not being at home and him having to wait, which caused me to lose my nerve and tell him how dare he had the audacity to be rude considering he is over a week late with my vehicle. Luckily my car was not damaged, which became my primary concern at that point, although it did look like someone tossed a bucket of mud on it.
So my recommendation is to please not use this company if any of you should ever be unfortunate to get it as your carrier. They will absolutely not communicate with you, make up lies regarding your vehicle status and whereabouts, and not take any sort of responsibility in case something goes wrong. They should be reported to the Better Business Bureau and shut down because their way of running a business is completely unethical and unprofessional.
