This may be a lengthy review, but if you are concerned about a company you may get involved with, you should read on.
To begin, I had a contract with Southerland Auto (movingmycar.com) and they went under. For 10 weeks I called every single day, and they lied to me everyday. They were running a scam, and eventually the owner was arrested, and he currently sits in jail.
I then had to send out requests for a quote, and BT Auto (Express Auto) contacted me with a nice quote. I called and spoke with Lance, he reassured me they would take extra care of me, since they were aware of the previous scam. Now here go the facts about Express....
2/9/04 - I placed my order and paid the deposit.
2/16/04 - The contracted Sunrise Express to pick up my car, and I was pleased it was picked up so fast.
2/19/04 - I call to see how soon my car will arrive, and they tell me the carrier's tire exploded, igniting the cars on board. They burned a Mustang GT, Nissan 350Z, Benz, Eclipse, Jetta down to the frame! My car, an old 1990 Eclipse Turbo had minor flame damage, mostly melted taillights and paint.
2/20/04 - Bt Auto gives me all the numbers I need, and leaves me on my own. I have to work with their contracted carrier, the tow truck place holding my car, their insurance, their insurances adjustor, and their insurances adjustor appraiser. This involved me calling Missouri, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Denver, and Oregon. I had many many charges.
2/20/04 thru 3/11/04 - I called every single place everyday, and always heard lies. Sunrise Express promised new pick up dates, and the day of, I would call, and they would have a "change of plans." The owner was running other deliveries, while my car sat in Nebraska.
I tried calling Jamie, the office manager at BT Auto (Express Auto) every day, and nothing. I left voicemailes everyday, nothing. I left handwritten messages, nothing. Everytime I called, she was Always "Out to lunch." I asked her to show me some courtesy, and at least call back for 10 seconds, and acknowledge she recieved my calls, nothing. I called the owner, Billy Taylor, and nothing. Left voicemails, messages, nothing.
Finally on March 11th, my car arrived. Burned. I have pictures for anyone interested.
I called the company, asking if they were going to refund any of my $200 deposit....never heard an answer the whole time. Finally, Jamie, the offic manager, gave an answer. BUT she did not talk to me. I called, talked to some low-IQ representative...and he was asking her the questions, and she would tell him what to say. I kept asking good questions and he would reply...."sir you paid us $200 to get your car to you...we did our job, therefore we keep the $200." Every questions I asked...such as why wouldnt Jamie talk to me....etc...."sir, you paid us blah blah blah."
I wrote the company a letter voicing my frustrations and dissatisfaction. There service to me did not live up to their motto, which says "we do everything we can to satisfy you." Getting my car burned, 6 weeks later doesnt satisfy me.
I informed them I would post my story on every website I could find. No reply. They did not acknowledge my letter, ot my phone calls. I told them I would wait two weeks before I posted my story, and no reply. So here I am, posting it. I hope to sway business from them. They are very unprofessional. When you first call they are very friendly....when its time for them to walk the walk....they treat you like mud.
I have all the pictures from their hired carrier, in case anyone is interested in seeing them. I don't care that the accident damaged my car. I understand accidents happen. What I dont like is they feel they should profit, while I lost a bunch of money, and a bunch of hassle over this. Im also very frustrated at their lack of communication.
I hope my opinion hurts theur business. They shouldn't run a business in their manner. I feel as if I was treated worse than the company who scammed me. It's April now, and the insurance STILL hasn't been resolved with their contracted carrier.
What a nightmare. Please be aware...the auto moving industry is very shady overall. Unless you're willing to pay top-dollar, you will probably get crappy results.
