To this day, I am still in shock of how fast AutoStar Transport got my car from Pensacola, FL to Pleasantville, NJ. I called the company around 12 pm on June 7, the car was picked up by 3:30 pm the same day, and was in New Jersey by 6:00 pm the very next day, June 8. AutoStar Transport and Logistics is to be awarded for their fast and quality work.
I called several car transportation companies, and did research and read reviews for several weeks prior to making a decision. Other companies quoted me high prices, didn't deliver to my area, or told me that they needed money down or a deposit before they could even tell me when a carrier would be in my area (ridiculous).
I called AutoStar Transport and told them that I needed my car shipped immediately, and then they automatically began looking for a carrier in my area, FREE of charge, despite the fact that other companies demanded money from me first before letting me know of the next available pick up.
Damian, my representative, called me back within the next two hours, told me that a carrier would be contacting me soon, because they were in my area. Only MINUTES after, an outside company/carrier called my cell phone to coordinate a place to pick up the car. Hours later, the car was loaded on a carrier with new Porsches, and Mercedes, and on the way to New Jersey.
My plane was delayed the next day, so I was unable to make it to New Jersey in time to pick up the car. The carrier company outsourced by Auto Star Transport worked with my family members to get the car to the correct address. I am confident and pleased with my decision to work with Auto Star Transport. I will definitely use them in the future.
Areas of improvement and tips to know before using AutoStar Transport:
1. There was no follow-up email or phone call after I sent in my signed contract. Follow-up and confirmation is VITAL when dealing with such a large amount of money, so this concerned me a little. Even an automated email message such as "your contract has been received and your carrier is on the way" would have sufficed. I became concerned that I was scammed after I didn't hear anything back. Lo and behold, I finally received a phone call
2. The tracking code they provide you is not truly a "tracking code". You can only put in the code on the website during their normal office hours, and it alerts a dispatcher to call you and let you know where your car is. I put the code in, and minutes later, you receive a call from a rep telling you where your car is.
3. Other companies are involved in the process. Don't expect an AutoStar Transport carrier to come get your car. However, the same driver who picks it up, is the same driver who drops it off. I like the fact that it is a consistent carrier and your car isn't constantly unloaded and reloaded on different trunks.
4. I paid an additional (yet small) fee for paying the price in full upfront. This makes no sense to me. It seems like more of an incentive for both the company and the customer to offer a discount for paying in full.
5. There was a call after the drop off to make sure everything went well, but it was a day or two after the car was dropped off. I would like to have received a call from AutoStar Transport sooner, but I understand that they are a business and don't have the manpower or office hours to call everyone at night to follow up with their car delivery.
6. There was no noticeable damage to my car at all. I think it is safe to say that not only was the service fast, but the car was kept in tact. No matter what company you choose: BE SURE TO WATCH THEM LOAD YOUR CAR ON THE CARRIER! They are much more careful when they know you're watching.
The suggestions above are small in comparison to the great service and fast turnaround time that AutoStar Transport provided. Any company that can get my car from FL to NJ in less than 32 hours is to be praised. Honestly, it could have been just perfect timing between my quote and carrier being in the area, but either way, I would definitely recommend this company to someone else or use them again for my next car move.
