I had my car shipped from California to Ohio. I had a fairly narrow window in which I wanted the car picked up (~5 days). Autostar arranged the transport within the given time frame, and the customer service was very good. The contact person was willing to arrange things over email, since I was out of the country. The price ended up being $60 higher than what I was originally quoted, but the company chipped in $25 so I only ended up paying $35 more. I was given the option to wait longer for another carrier who would meet the original quote, but I decided not to wait. The car was picked up on time, and delivered within a week with no damage or problems. The only problem I had was some confusion over how Autostar would cover the extra $25 of the quote, since the company shipping the car expected the full amount from me (ie. the extra $60 and not just the extra $35). However, when I called Autostar, they were very apologetic and refunded the $25 without any hassle. The only reason I would not use them again is that I think I could have avoided paying their fee (~$200) by calling around to shipping companies directly, but I did not have the time to do that. The one company I did call directly quoted me much higher prices ($200-$300 more).

Brokers perform the customer service role that carriers unfortunately do not have, and we are in fact here to fill that customer service/satisfaction gap, in addition to performing background checks including insurance checks, and licensing that it would prove challenging to do in a personal capacity.
