I asked for a quote from a car shipping website and I got several responses. Most were from companies offering low bids. I checked this website to verify that people had a good experience using them. Unfortunately, each company that offered a low bid had terrible reviews due to shady business practices. Luckily, one response to my inquiry came from Jerry at Auto Shipping TLC. Jerry did a great job of explaining the standard process for shipping a vehicle. It's very much a free market system. Brokers post vehicles, trip details, and price. The carriers then use the information to decide whether they want to do the delivery. If the price is too low, no carriers will accept that job. If the price is too high, many carriers will respond and the broker can lower the price. As a result, any broker than promises a significantly lower price than market value is probably trying to scam you; check broker reviews before shipping your car! There are some horror stories out there. Brokers also provide reviews for carriers. This way, carriers are also held accountable for the delivery process. Jerry will only select carriers that have very high ratings. I was pleased with the carrier that picked up my vehicle. He contacted me a few times before he arrived: 24 hrs prior, 1 hr prior, and when he arrived. They don't provide guarantees for delivery dates or times since a lot of things can happen over a 1,200 mile trip. However, he delivered my car on the day he said he would. The whole process was really straightforward. I fully recommend Jerry to anyone looking to ship his vehicle. He explained the whole process, was realistic with the expectations he set, and followed through with his commitment to customer service. I would definitely call him again if I need to ship another vehicle.
