If you are seeing this, good job on doing your due diligence on movers. I wish I had done more before making my decision. If you don't read anything else I write, please read this: DO NOT PAY AUTHORITY MOVING GROUP ANY MONEY OR GIVE THEM YOUR BELONGINGS. Why? I am not 100% sure this company is real and not just a scam. Here is our story… We were contacted by David Thomas. David was great. He was attentive, helpful and seemingly very knowledgeable. My only complaint with David is that he never mentioned that Authority Moving Group is a moving broker and not an actual moving company. I should have figured it out on my own but it would have been nice to be told straight up who I was dealing with. David got us a great price on our move and we booked it after about a day of thought. Once things were booked David disappeared sadly. I was then handed off to a Michael H who was basically the exact opposite of David. Rude, unhelpful and not at all attentive. I sent him emails and called him and never got a response. As we got closer to our move date (July 30th) I started to call to see if Authority had any info on our movers or when they would be arriving and they could not give me an answer. Also, actually getting a hold of them is incredibly difficult. Be prepared to wait on hold for a long time and then get sent to voicemail even if you call during business hours. Eventually I got through to someone named Jessica. Jessica seemed to hate me from day one. Every time she answered the phone it seemed like I was inconveniencing her big time. She would also tell me every single time that she would look into things for me and call me right back. I never once received a call back. The 30th came and went without us hearing from Authority or the movers. On the 31st at 6pm we called them and were then told by another rep named Jess that our move could not happen until the 1st or the 2nd of August. So we agreed to do the move 2 days later than we had agreed to months ago. Again, we had already paid a deposit and signed contracts at this point. On the 1st, we called and could not get a hold of them. On the 2nd we called and were told that the move was delayed again and could not be done until August 6th. Our lease in Philadelphia starts on August 7th. This was unacceptable so we kindly asked them to cancel the contract and refund our deposit. They said they process the request and call us back. Of course, they never did so I was forced to dispute the charge through my credit card to get my money back. Long story short: Authority Moving Group will probably give you the cheapest quote for your move. But, as all the other negative reviews state, your experience will be a nightmare. Either your belongings will disappear or your move will just never happen. If you still feel compelled to give them a shot I would STRONGLY encourage you to pay with credit cards so that you can get your money back when they disappoint you. I know there are a lot of glowing reviews for them out there but having worked for many web companies during my career I am now confident that these are fake and created by employees of the company. The negative reviews are the ones you want to focus on here. BE CAREFUL.
