There was quite a miscommunication between Angels and The Contract Driver, and I was the victim.
I have used InterCity to move my cars for years. However, due the economy I decided to go with cheaper and open carrier and learned my leson
I completely understand it is difficult to give exact times on delivery or pickup, neither which I asked for.
I gave them a 3 week window for pick up and 2 week for delivery. I said I can have the car in Boston or Providence, whatever is convenient. Angels said Providence, RI would e fine.
PICKUP ISSUES:
* Angels sent me email saying "The approximate date your vehicle is scheduled for pick-up is 2010-11-18."
* I told them, we have a 2 week old baby, and to give me notice, and they did.
* I spoke to Contract dispatch, who said it will be 11/18 in the evening.
* I waited, and then I was told it will be between 12-4pm on 11/19 (again I took time off from work and waited)
* Nobody showed up at 4pm, and driver showed up at 8pm on 11/19. He then proceeded to tell me that there was no parking. He knew my address ahead of time.
* There was a Stop and SHop parking lot 3 miles north of me, which I offered to go to. He said no he could not.
* If he showed up like he said 12-4, He could have loaded in front of my house, but friday night downtown gets busy.
* He then said "follow me and we will find something"
* I followed him for over 30 miles to guess what, another Stop and Shop Parking Lot.
* I then had to have my wife give me a ride.
* He had another Jamestown customer meet us there as well so he could pick up 2 cars in one place. I finally got home at 10:45pm
I should have been told (looking at a GPS-in this modern world) that the car couldn't be picked up in downtown-so I could have made arrangements-instead of him making me do it last minute.
DELIVERY ISSUES:
I was very flexible on delivery, and knew it would take 7-10 days.
* Contract driver told me delivery would be Friday 11/26 or Monday 11/29.
* We did not go on Thanksgiving Vacation, because of delivery
* He promised me when he picked up "I go to church on Sundays-I don't deliver cars"
* I assured him, no problem. I have 6 cars, so not a rush
* ANGELS called me and said delivery will be Friday. We waited all day Friday.
* Driver called me and said Delivery will Be Saturday. I waited over 6 hours Saturday.
* THen he called Sunday morning and said Delivery will be sunday. He finally came at night.
The car was fine. I am happy with that. But I am a professional and have a career, and can't wait around for deliveries. If I did to my clients what they did to me, I would never have any more clients.
-I paid what I was asked
-I was flexible on pick up and delivery dates
-I made no demands.
Yet I was treated poorly, and given all these different dates, and wasted 2-3 days of my time, waiting around.
