We tried to ship our Corvette from Texas to Virginia using Angels, and after multiple attempts, Angles never followed through with the order. The facts are as follows:
Sept 2: I called Angels (after another company made an administrative error) in desperate need of service to ship the car from Texas to VA (we were moving from Texas on Friday, Sept 4th). The girls were very helpful and said it wouldn't be a problem. They scheduled a pickup for the next day. I was very happy.
Sept 3: They called to say that the truck needed repairs and that they would not be picking up the car until Friday. We said that would be fine, but they needed to pick it up on Friday prior to 3pm because we were leaving Texas at that time. They said it shouldn't be a problem.
Sept 4: They called again to say the truck would not be fixed on Friday, but they could pick it up on Saturday, to which I reminded them that we were leaving Austin Friday afternoon and there was no one we could leave our car with in Austin. Despite some frustration, we agreed that we would drive the car to Dallas where my mother-in-law would keep the car until we could reschedule the shipment. The girls were very apologetic about the situation and said they would put a delivery date of Oct 15 to keep the order open.
Mid October: I called to schedule a new delivery date of Oct 31 to VA. The girls said they would pick the car up at my Mother-In-Law's on Oct 27th. We were supposedly "all set."
Oct 27: They call to say the truck broke down (again!) and that they wouldn't be able to pick up the car in Dallas until Thursday Oct 29th but that it wouldn't impact the delivery date. We agreed to the new date.
Oct 29: My mother-in-law waited all day for the truck to show up. I called Angels in the evening and asked if the driver was actually coming. They called the driver and said he would be there in 40 minutes. HE NEVER SHOWED UP THAT NIGHT AND NO ONE EVER CALLED TO SAY HE WOULDN'T BE THERE.
Oct 30: I called to cancel the order. It was extremely frustrating and I didn't trust that the company could follow through. A woman by the name of Deena proceeded to yell at me, tell me that it was somehow my fault, and that she would not refund my $200 but that she would credit my account toward shipping another car. Then she hung up on me.
Nov 2: I called Deena back and asked her if she would walk through the events with me to better evaluate the situation and perhaps return my money based on the facts. She refused and proceeded to hang up on me again after she told me that she was working with a much more important customer who was shipping a car to the Netherlands.
My thoughts: I understand that the contract says that they can not guarantee any pick up dates; however, there should be some degree of reasonability in terms of service where the customer has a defense if the car continues to sit because the company can't coordinate their service. We were VERY understanding the first few times that they missed their dates, but after the last time, we felt that it was poor service. I would not recommend the company based on my experience, although I'm happy to hear that other customers have had a more positive experience with them.
