Transportation Brokerage Fee/Keeping Customer Advised

This was a bad experience with American Auto Transport. I was in the Transportation & Logistics business myself for over 30 years and this type of customer service should not occur and was something I never tolerated. There quote was $300 more than others who quoted this move. The quote was for $1250, with $150 for the broker fee. They decided to charge $200 for the fee after they assigned a driver. This was not acceptable to me as we had a written agreement. I gave them plenty of notice on when to pick up the vehicle, but they seldom made the necessary contact to update me of their progress. They also said a driver would be contacting me for the pickup, but I did not hear from the driver or from them. I had to call several times to get status. This type of service is not acceptable from anyone in the transportation business. Drivers, and or brokers, should never be allowed to change the order once it is quoted and accepted. I finally heard from a driver I had used before and they accepted the vehicle for transportation. They did a good job once it was picked up, and they did keep in contact. This broker needs to ensure that they get a driver for the amount requested and not allow them to select the cream of the crop for transportation. The shipping order is a contract.
