AmeriFreight Car Shipping

I had never done this before. I was tired of having my vintage car in mothballs in California, and getting to see it twice a year. So I looked into shipping it to Utah. Doing the math, driving the car meant 12 hours behind the wheel, $100 for gas, $100 for decent food, a decent ($300) hotel room, the wear and tear of driving the car through the desert, the headaches of running a gauntlet of other drivers (mostly insane Californians in a hurry to get to Vegas), the anxiety about a breakdown in the middle of nowhere, and of course, sitting behind the wheel for 12 hours. Sound familiar? For less than twice that amount, when you ship it with AmeriFreight, the car disappears where it is, and reappears at the place you're shipping it to 24 hours later. When I called to inquire, the agent (Melissa) took my info, and about 4 days before shipping date, called me to say she was working on it, and 3 hours later, she had negotiated with a California-based shipper to accept the bid to ship. The driver showed up, inspected the car, took the key, and as I said, disappeared, and reappeared 24 hours later at my other place. I had the car detailed in advance (they recommend doing this, and I highly recommend doing this, so you can easily spot any road damage), and it showed up immaculate. No dents, scrapes, no dust and debris, not even a scratch. Ship it, don't drive it, trust me, it's worth it, and of all the outfits I searched, AmeriFreight was the most responsive, and Melissa was the most friendly and knowledgeable about the industry and how to get this done. Based on my experience, I would say you can trust these guys to do it right. So if the difference of $300 means that much to you, then drive it. But if you consider the two days of your life it's going to cost you plus all the bullshit of driving your nice car that distance, then hire these guys, you'll be very pleased with the result.
